Carolyn Black Obituary
04/08/1935 - 10/01/2024
Carolyn Cave Black, 89, went to be with her Lord and Savior on October 1, 2024. Carolyn was born in Dallas to Joe Bob and Gertrude Ballard Cave, on April 8, 1935. She was a strong, independent Texas woman who was proud to be a fourth generation Texan. Carolyn married George Black, Jr., in 1956 and lived in Houston 44 years, where they raised five children. She taught at St. Thomas' Episcopal School, was a member of the Junior League, and spent countless hours volunteering in the community. She touched many lives with her servant heart, steadfast faith, and encouraging words.
She is survived by her husband; her children, George Black III, Katherine (and Hal) Walters, Emmalee Black, Amy (and Jimmy) Dexter, Elizabeth (and Mike) Wills; her grandchildren, Jeremy Black, Jason Black, Hannah Ramsey, Grace Cupp, Morgan Noren, Whitney Parris, John Palla, Michael Dudick, Sam Dudick, Chloe Dudick and Izabel Wills; and ten great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held October 18, 2024, at 11:30 a.m., at St. Michael and All Angels in Kerrville, TX. For a complete obituary see www.grimesfuneralchapels.com.

Mrs. Black was my 5th grade teacher back in the 90's. She taught me and my best friend at the time, what May Day was. For the next couple of years, my best friend and I would pick flowers and go leave them on her porch for May Day. We loved having her as our teacher and I have lots of fond memories of her. Sending love and prayers to her family and friends.
