Carolyn Sue Blair

Carolyn Sue Blair, 84, of West Terre Haute, peacefully passed away on January 07, 2025. She was born in West Terre Haute, IN on August 29, 1940 to Fairy Cort Parson and Pearl Parson. She was married on August 21, 1959 to her husband, Donald (Donnie) E Blair, who passed on July 10, 2020. She spent a lifetime touching the hearts of many through her loving and nurturing spirit while babysitting, socializing at local events, watching local youth/high school competitions, and constantly spending time with family and friends. Donnie and Carolyn were avid boaters as well as could be found watching every St. Louis Cardinals game.

Carolyn was a dedicated wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother whose home was always filled with laughter and joy. Beyond her immediate family, Carolyn was known in her community for her role as a babysitter, having cared for over two dozen children throughout her life. In her busy home, children played, ate good food, and learned an occasional bad word from her husband Donnie. Carolyn was a role model to everyone she touched.

Carolyn spent her last months at Willowbrook Memory Care in Marshall, IL. Even in the late Alzheimer’s stages, Carolyn’s warm personality gained her caregiver’s love, and they will forever be considered family. 

Carolyn’s warmth, smile, patience and unwavering loyalty to her family and loved ones will be remembered by all. Carolyn is survived by her three children, Terry (Tim Weer), Penny (Greg Aff), and Don (Michelle) Blair, all of West Terre Haute. She was blessed with 5 grand-children: Drew (Angela) Aff, Dylan Aff, Kaleb (Jorden) Blair, Alec (Kaitlin) Blair, and Alyssa (Vahn Billberry). She is also survived by three great grand-children: Elijah Blair, Olivia Blair, and soon to be Vance Billberry. Carolyn is also survived by her sister Shirley Pickett of West Terre Haute. 

Carolyn is preceded in death by her husband; Donald E Blair, her parents; Fairy and Pearl Parson, two brothers; Dick Rollings and Leon Rollings, four sisters; Rosella Moss, Wilma Giles, Deloris Taylor, and Joan House.

Funeral services will be held at Fitzpatrick Funeral Home, 220 North 3rd St., West Terre Haute, IN on Saturday, January 11, 2025 at 6:00 PM, with Pastor Chris Wilbur officiating. Visitation is scheduled for Saturday from 4:00 – 6:00 PM in the funeral home. In honor of Carolyn’s wishes, cremation will follow services.
