Carolyn K. Dickerson
July 26, 1959 – April 2, 2025
With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Carolyn K. Dickerson, a devoted nurse, loving wife, mother, sister, and friend. Carolyn was born on July 26, 1959, to Janie and Henry Wimes. She grew up with a passion for caring for others, a calling that would define her life's work.
A proud graduate of Rahway High School in 1977, Carolyn wasted no time in pursuing her lifelong dream of becoming a registered nurse. Her dedication led her to a remarkable career in healthcare, where she served with compassion and expertise. She began her nursing journey at Elizabeth General, now Trinitas Regional Medical Center, dedicating over 30 years of service. Through hard work and determination, she advanced from a Recovery Room nurse to a Nurse Manager, leaving an indelible mark on the lives of her patients and colleagues.
Carolyn's love for learning and teaching inspired her to further her education, earning her master's degree from the College of Saint Elizabeth. She was deeply passionate about mentoring and guiding the next generation of nurses, ensuring that her legacy of care would continue.
Beyond her career, Carolyn found immense joy in her family. She married the love of her life, Ronald Dickerson, and together they raised their son, Philip Dickerson, whom she cherished deeply. She was also a devoted sister to Janice and Regina Wimes and a beloved friend to many. Carolyn's warmth, wisdom, and kindness touched countless lives, and her presence will be greatly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
She leaves behind her son, Philip, her sisters, Janice and Regina, as well as a host of close friends and colleagues who were like family to her. While we mourn her passing, we also celebrate the incredible life she lived and the legacy of love and healing she leaves behind.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Carolyn's memory. Please click here to donate to Trinitas Hospital in Carolyn's Memory
Rest in peace, Carolyn. Your kindness and dedication will never be forgotten.

Our theme song ( Carolyn, My sister Kathy & I would sing throughout Nursing school and even long after! Miss you and these times very much! Love, Rosemary
Lyrics

Artists
Next time you're found
With your chin on the ground
There a lot to be learned
So look around
Just what makes that little old ant
Think he'll move that rubber tree plant
Anyone knows an ant can't
Move a rubber tree plant
But he's got high hopes
He's got high hopes
He's got high apple pie
In the sky hopes
So any time you're gettin' low
'Stead of lettin' go
Just remember that ant
Oops, there goes another rubber tree plant
Oops, there goes another rubber tree plant
Oops, there goes another rubber tree plant
When troubles call
And your back's to the wall
There a lot to be learned
That wall could fall
Once there was a silly old ram
Thought he'd punch a hole in a dam
No one could make that ram scram
He kept buttin' that dam
'Cause he had high hopes
He had high hopes
He had high apple pie
In the sky hopes
So any time you're feelin' bad
'Stead of feelin' sad
Just remember that ram
Oops, there goes a billion kilowatt dam
Oops, there goes a billion kilowatt dam
Oops, there goes a billion kilowatt dam
All problems just a toy balloon
They'll be bursted soon
They're just bound to go pop
Oops, there goes another problem, kerplop
Oops, there goes another problem, kerplop
Oops, there goes another problem, kerplop
Kerplop

Tomorrow will be the Wake of a Special Woman. My heart overflows with cherished memories of the extraordinary young woman Carolyn Dickinson. Her radiant smile & infectious laughter continue to inspire me. I had the privilege of knowing her when I was 17. She was friends with my sister KATHLEEN and we attended nursing school together. She selflessly drove us to class since neither of us had a car at the time, we shared countless joyful moments together, from studying in the park to enjoying Chinese food & laughter-filled meals in the cafeteria. I vividly recall teaching her how to eat yogurt the right way, her giggles still echo in my mind. We created a treasure trove of laughter and good times. Years later, our paths crossed again when she joined the hospital where I work, which had merged from Elizabeth General to Saint Elizabeth, now Trinitas Regional Medical Center. She excelled in the recovery room, becoming the manager, later overseeing the short stay unit and pre-admission testing, where I worked. She was one of my bosses, yet our friendship continued to flourish. We would often attend each other's parties, and she would invite us to events that always turned out to be unforgettable experiences. We even shared a meaningful moment when we performed CPR together - she was an exceptional partner. I will deeply miss her, & my entire family will cherish her memory, as she was a frequent guest in our home years back. She was a beautiful young lady in every sense of the word. God, please enfold her in your loving arms, reunite her with her loved ones who have passed on, & let her spirit continue to inspire us. Rest in peace, my dear friend, rest in peace..
