Carolyn Fabricant Obituary

Carolyn Fabricant of North Adams passed away on February 1, after a brief illness. She was 84 years old. Carolyn was born in Worcester, Mass., on July 3, 1939. Her parents moved to Stockbridge in 1945 where she attended the local schools through the 10th grade. She graduated from Northfield School for Girls in 1957 and from Swarthmore College with honors in 1961. Later, she received a master's degree from Hunter College. Carolyn spent much of her life in New York City where she had a very diverse career over a span of nearly forty years. She worked for Planned Parenthood, taught High School English, served in administration at City College of New York and did a great deal of free-lance work that utilized her many talents.

Twenty-five years ago, she moved back to the Berkshires and in 2007, settled in North Adams. She worked for a while at The Mount in Lenox and did some freelance writing for the Berkshire Eagle. In 2016, she joined Osher Lifelong Learning Institute (OLLI) and in 2019, she created/edited the first OLLI cookbook. Throughout her life, Carolyn had a passion for writing, photography, singing, and cooking.

She leaves her brother, Richard Shields, her sister-in-law, Bea Shields and her cousins, Pat Price, Adam Patota and Tim Patota.
