Carolyn Sue Ratcliff Flaugher, age 83, of
Grayson, Kentucky, peacefully departed this life on Friday, August 22, 2025, at her home, surrounded by her beloved family. Born on February 20, 1942, in Willard, Kentucky, she was the cherished daughter of Charles Heber Ratcliff and Hazel Jane Queen Ratcliff.
Throughout her life, Carolyn exemplified dedication and compassion in all her endeavors. She served as a waitress at Grayson Pharmacy and worked as a clerk at Thompson and Bentley Grocery Stores, where her warm smile and kind heart touched the lives of many. Later, she found her calling as a Respiratory Therapist at the Huntington VA Hospital, where she provided care and comfort to those in need. Carolyn was a devoted member of the Willard Church of Christ, where her faith and community spirit flourished.
Carolyn was preceded in death by her loving husband, James "Jim" Flaugher; her grandson, Jeffery "Bub" Flaugher; great-grandchildren, Derrick Michael Flaugher, Caleb Andrew Flaugher, Austin Bryant Flaugher, Brady Johnson, and Chandler Johnson; and her brothers, Billy Joe Ratcliff and Gene Clayton Ratcliff.
She leaves behind a legacy of love and strength through her daughters, Sandra (Randy) Lycans and Teresa (Mitch) Marshall, both of Grayson; her sons, Jeffery (Sue Townsend) Flaugher and Jamie (Tempest) Flaugher, also of Grayson; her sister, Kay Perry of Grayson; her brother, Donald Ratcliff of Denton, KY; as well as six grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren who will forever cherish her memory; and a special niece, Rhonda Sue Griffith.
Funeral services to honor Carolyn's life will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday at Malone Funeral Home, officiated by Bros. Barrett Bush and Keith Sargent. Burial will follow at East Carter County Memory Gardens. Family and friends are invited to visit on Sunday from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. and again after 9:00 a.m. on Monday.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that memorial donations be made to the Willard Church of Christ, C/O Food Pantry, P.O. Box 159, Willard, KY 41181, to continue Carolyn's legacy of giving and service to others.
