Carolyn Barbara (Johnston) Fulton, age 84, of Young Harris, Ga passed away peacefully on
Friday, March 22nd, 2024. She is absent from the body, and present with the Lord.
Carolyn was born November 30th, 1939 to the late Robert and Cora (Matheson) Johnston in
Hayesville, North Carolina.
She worked as the director for the Towns County HeadStart Program for years, and then
became the director for the Towns County Child Development Center in Hiawassee. After
moving to Plant City Fl to be near her daughter Michele, she served as the Activity Director at
the Nursing Home in Plant City Fl. She moved back to Young Harris, Ga in the early 90’s
where she was a homemaker.
Carolyn loved spending time with her family, and will be missed by them dearly. She found joy
in reading her bible, gardening, watching birds, sewing, and spending time with her
grandchildren. She enjoyed sending cards to people. She had a passion to collect Hummel and
Angel figurines, which she has shared an abundance of them with her only granddaughter,
Jaylyn. She also leaves special memories of the time she spent with her dog Meggie. She was
a member of Old Union Baptist Church in Young Harris, GA.
She was preceded in death by her mother and father; her daughter, Michele Kimsey Ray;
sisters, Regina Walker, Sue Coleman, and Mary Ann Owen.
Carolyn is survived by her sons; Benny Kimsey, Donald Kimsey and his wife Jackie.
Grandchildren; Adam Ray, Caleb Ray and his wife Gabby, Zachary Kimsey, Jaylyn Kimsey,
Cameron Kimsey, Casey Kimsey. One great-granddaughter, Mackenzie Michele Ray; sisters,
Abby Ledford, Roberta Bradley and several nieces and nephews whom she adored.
A memorial service will be held at 2 pm on Saturday, March 30, 2024 at Old Union Baptist
Church in Young Harris. Pastor’s Ricky Rogers and Larry Hedden will officiate the service.
The family will receive friends from 1pm to 2pm prior to the service.
The family has entrusted Banister Funeral Home of Hiawassee with the arrangements..
