Carolyn (Suffield) Godwin - 84 years of age, passed away on February 26, 2024.
She was born September 9, 1939 in Windsor, Ontario to the late Sid and Fran Suffield. Carolyn is survived by her sister, Gloria Johnston; her four children, Tommy Godwin, Susie Godwin (Tony), Jeanie Brown (Mike), Beth Godwin Leo; grandchildren, Shannon (David), Kylie, Colin, Gretchen, Payton and Austin; great-grandchildren, Landon, Carter and Tyler. Carolyn was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Thomas Godwin.
Carolyn spent her early years growing up involved in many activities. She was a swimmer, cheerleader, on the student council and much more. Her favorite activity was dance. She loved tap dancing.
Carolyn met her forever sweetheart, Tom on a trip to Florida in September 1958. They married on May 20, 1960 and she moved to the United States where they raised their family in Farmington Hills, MI. She was always very proud and supportive of her family. Along with raising her children, Carolyn worked as a temporary worker for an agency. She worked her way up to running the entire payroll center throughout the entire country.
After retirement, Carolyn and Tom spent many winters at their home in Ft. Myers, FL. They loved all of their adventures. Carolyn's favorite was line dancing. Their biggest joy during retirement was their grandchildren and their two dogs, Ben and Jake. Those dogs became everything to them.
Carolyn spent the last two years living on Lake Fenton with her daughter, Susie. Many memories were made. She was thankful everyday to be with her loved ones, dogs included.
Carolyn's humor and kindness will be forever remembered and her sarcasm will never be beat!
A memorial gathering will be held from 1-4 PM Saturday March 2, 2024 with an informal time of sharing from 3-3:30PM at Sharp Funeral Homes, Linden Chapel, 209 E. Broad St., Linden. Those desiring may make a donation to Detroit Dog Rescue in her memory. (detroitdogrescue.com)
