Carolyn Lee (Hoffman) Hale, age 82, of Dillsburg passed away peacefully at home and surrounded by her loving family on Friday, August 16, 2024. Carolyn was born on Tuesday, July 28, 1942, in Mechanicsburg to the late J. Elwood Hoffman and Ruth Anna (Bentzel) Hoffman. Carolyn was the widow of George Arthur Hale, whom she married on October 7, 1961, and who died on March 30, 2010. In addition to her parents and husband, Carolyn is preceded in death by her sister, Gloria Ruppert.

Carolyn’s survivors include: her four children: Tania Sue Young and husband, Clyde, of Dillsburg, Gary George Hale and significant other, Rachelle Siler, of Dillsburg, Timothy Lee Hale of Dillsburg, and Brian Elwood Hale of Dillsburg; her two grandchildren: Ashley Wentz and husband, Justin, and Travis Young and wife, Tashia; her four great-grandchildren: Olivia Wentz, Grace Wentz, Elizabeth Snedegar, and Orion Bullock; and several nieces and nephews.

Carolyn provided in-home and in-office cleaning services to many people and businesses over the years. She also worked as a waitress at Embers and at Old Country Buffet. As a young girl, she often helped her daddy in his orchard, cutting asparagus and picking raspberries, strawberries and grapes. Carolyn enjoyed sunbathing and helping people. She went out of her way to assist those in need. She cherished her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was known to Ashley and Travis as Mema. Ashley remembers fondly of Mema dressing her in fancy clothes. Carolyn especially loved hosting Ashley overnight. Carolyn will be dearly missed by all those fortunate enough to have known her.

All are welcome to join Carolyn’s family at her viewing on Thursday, August 22, 2024, from 11:00 a.m. until time of service at 12:00 p.m. at Buhrig Funeral & Cremation, 37 East Main Street, Mechanicsburg, PA 17055; with Chaplain Tim Brown officiating. Carolyn’s family invites everyone to join them for a time of food and fellowship at Buhrig’s Gathering Place (next to the funeral home) immediately following the service. Entombment will follow the Reception in Rolling Green Cemetery in Camp Hill. 

The family sends their most heartfelt thanks to everyone at Residential Hospice who so lovingly cared for Carolyn during her illness.
