Carolyn Marie Hetzer, a cherished matriarch and beacon of faith, passed away peacefully on August 9, 2025, in Mount Morris, Michigan, at the age of 88. Born on May 16, 1937, in Flint, Michigan, Carolyn's life was a testament to her adventurous spirit, her unwavering faith, and her boundless love for her family.
Carolyn's journey through life was marked by her devotion to her family and her faith. She was a loving mother to Darwin Hetzer, Carolyn (Rick) Perge, Raymond (Janie) Hetzer, Nancy Bass, Craig (Amy) Hetzer, Sandy (Rick) Garrett, and Lillie Reynolds. Her legacy extended through generations, as she was the proud grandmother to 20 grandchildren, 51 great-grandchildren, and 5 great-great-grandchildren, each of whom she loved deeply. Carolyn's special niece and caretaker, Linda Archuleta, and special daughter-in-law, Laurie Mansfield, held a dear place in her heart. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Richard Edward Hetzer, her parents, Edward and Minnie (Martin) McCaslin, her children James and Richard J., her grandchild Richard J. Jr., her great-granddaughter Monica, her special sister Joann, and many siblings. Her son-in-law Roy Bass also preceded her in death.
Carolyn's life was one of service and fellowship. She was a dedicated member of the Fellowship Baptist Church in Clio, Michigan, where she attended services and volunteered her time with joy and enthusiasm. Her commitment to her community and her church was unwavering, and she touched the lives of many through her acts of kindness and her readiness to lend a helping hand.
Her interests were as diverse as they were passionate. Carolyn found solace and joy in crocheting and knitting, creating beautiful pieces that were cherished by her family and friends. She was a daily reader of the Bible, finding strength and guidance in its teachings. Carolyn's adventurous spirit led her to travel across the country, taking joy rides to spot deer and marveling at the beauty of nature. Her love for the ocean was profound, and she spent many years living by its side, drawing peace from its vastness and serenity.
Above all, Carolyn was the heart of her family. She relished having her loved ones gathered around her, creating memories that would last a lifetime. Her home was a place of warmth and laughter, where stories were shared, and bonds were strengthened. Her spirit was characterized by her adventurous nature, her faith-filled life, and her spirited demeanor. Carolyn Marie Hetzer's life was a beautiful tapestry woven with love, faith, and adventure. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her, but her spirit will continue to inspire and guide her family and friends. Her memory will be cherished and celebrated, as the stories of her life are passed down through the generations. Rest in peace, Carolyn, knowing that your legacy will live on forever.
Cremation has taken place. A Celebration of life to honor Carolyn will be held at 1:00 PM on Saturday, August 16, 2025, where family and friends may visit from 12:00 PM till time of service with a luncheon to follow.
