Carolyn (Louise) Frady Jager passed away peacefully on December 16, 2023 after a ten-year battle with Ovarian cancer. Carolyn (Carrie) was born to Mary and Erle Frady on December 3, 1953, in North Hollywood California, the fourth of four children. She was preceded in death by her parents, Mary and Erle Frady and nephew Donald Frady. She is survived by her siblings, Dennis Frady (Carol), Ron Frady (Kathy), and Kathy Snow (Bill). Carrie is also survived by her large and beautiful family in which she was clearly the Matriarch, including her husband Bill of forty-six years, daughters Jessica Chester and her husband James, Megan Gregor and her husband Josh, and Molly Medeiros and her husband Kaipo. Carrie adored her grandchildren and is survived by many including, Skyler Medeiros (Taylor), Jordan Reclusado (Nathan) Cash, Olive, Mabel, Reilly, Harry, Ensley, Abby, Preston, Zoe and Chase. Great grandchildren include Millie, Maggie, Ruthie, Bodee and Blayke.
Carrie was an inquisitive young girl, rambunctious and happy! As a teenager she was an excellent student, a volunteer and was proud to serve as Honor Queen in the Jobs Daughters Fraternal Organization. She became interested in helping children and would pursue a career in which her love, care and dedication would flourish. Carrie earned a Bachelor of Science in Psychology and a Master's degree in Education from California Lutheran University. Carrie and Bill moved to Bakersfield in 1978 to begin their teaching careers. Carrie was an excellent teacher of students with special needs including Serious Emotional Disturbance, Autism, and children with specific learning disabilities. She would spend the last twenty-five years of her thirty-eight-year career as the Director of Special Education for the Fruitvale School District where she would inspire and lead her staff to serve all the children of the Fruitvale School District with care and compassion. Carrie also served as Adjunct Professor at California State University, Bakersfield, and Point Loma Nazarene, University. A multitude of special educators in Kern County benefited from Carrie's expertise and guidance, extending her positive influence and impact in turn to thousands of children. Carrie was an influential and respected educator throughout Kern County and beyond. In her eight years of retirement Carrie valiantly battled cancer, but enjoyed several remissions in which she welcomed the births of grandchildren, enjoyed family vacations to Shaver Lake, Palm Desert, Hermosa Beach, and Port Hueneme. She loved those vacations the most since the entire family all gathered in love and fun! She and Bill were avid travelers enjoying road trips in the United States and international trips to Egypt, an African Safari, Spain, Portugal, and numerous cruises. Carrie loved music and was an avid concert goer as she and Bill enjoyed hundreds of concerts. Carrie loved golf and she and Bill played often and had many short golfing getaways. Carrie's greatest joy was her family and her role as a wife, mother, and grandmother. Love is not a big enough word for what she and Bill shared. They met in the Child Mental Health Specialist Training program at Camarillo State Hospital. Carrie would always quip, ...but we had keys! They faced the challenges of shared careers, parenting, and the stress of daily pressures by their devotion and love for each other. The Irving Berlin song Always became their trademark song. Carrie always put everyone else's needs first and that included her children. As a mother, her gentle guidance, fairness, wisdom, and unconditional love served as her maternal foundation. From the girls' first ginger steps across the living room floor to their college graduations and wedding processionals, she was there to hold their hands and hug them in times of joy and sadness. She was an excellent seamstress and would lovingly make holiday dresses for her young girls, serve as their Girl Scout Leader, and as they grew older, listen to their concerns, and always give the best advice. She was their greatest cheerleader watching thousands of volleyball games, attending softball, baseball games, ballet events, academic competitions, and special events. Her greatest joy was just spending time with her girls and now their husbands' children and her grandchildren. Nothing made her happier than when family surrounded her. Carrie's lengthy battle with cancer is over and she is free of pain and suffering. May she rest in peace. Carrie was a woman of great faith and embodied Christs most important message, love. She would give it unconditionally to those in her orbit. She requested this verse be included now as she walks with God.
I come to the garden alone
While the dew is still on the roses
And the voice I hear, falling on my ear
The Son of God discloses
And He walks with me
And He talks with me
And He tells me I am His own
And the joy we share as we tarry there
None other has ever known
He speaks and the sound of His voice
Is so sweet the birds hush their singing
And the melody that He gave to me
Within my heart is ringing
And He walks with me
And He talks with me
And He tells me I am His own
And the joy we share as we tarry there
None other has ever known
I stayed in the garden with Him
Though the night all around me is falling
But He bids me go, through the voice of woe
His voice to me is calling
And He walks with me
And He talks with me
And He tells me I am His own
And the joy we share as we tarry there
None other has ever known
None other has ever known
