Carolyn Jones Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Peeples Family Funeral Homes on Jan. 23, 2026.
Carolyn L. Jones, 83, passed away on Monday, January 19, 2026 at Community Hospice Warner Center from cancer. She was born on February 16, 1942 in Jacksonville, Florida and daughter of the late Henry L. Owens and Louise Plyler Owens. She was a lifelong resident of Jacksonville. She was a graduate of Andrew Jackson High School and received her in Degree in Nursing from FSCJ. Carolyn worked with many local hospitals and assisted living facilities during her 40 years of nursing.

She was preceded in death by both her parents: spouses, Douglas Charles Jone (Chuck) and Lynwood Anderson: her 3 brothers Buddy Owens, Ernie Owens and Billy Owens: and her granddaughters Jarah Carolene Dixon Smith and Jacie Harrison. Surviving family include 3 daughters: Marilyn Solorzano (Maynor), Amelia Dixon (Stanley Thompson) and Kaelyn Jones: grandchildren Lee Vogelsong (Kim), Jason Vogelsong (Jan) Damien Solorzano (Kaeleigh) Julia Pridgen (Shane): and 26 great grandchildren: her beloved sister Nancy Williams (George), brothers Harry Owens (Joyce) and Larry Owens Sr (Stacy).

Carolyn loved her family more than anything, so much so that she adopted her great-grand daughter, Kaelyn to be her very own daughter, whom she loved most of all. She also had many other interests and simple things that brought joy to her life as well, a walk on the beach, a drive down A1A to Fernandina or St Augustine in her convertible or a day trip anywhere. She enjoyed decades of country dancing and made great lifelong friends from some of her dance partners, namely Bruce Ferrier and Bob Levins (aka Santa) along with many others. She enjoyed traveling taking multiple trips around the USA, from a Grand Canyon-Vegas trip with grand daughter, Jacie to the mountains, where she acquired a second home later in life in Clayton Georgia, along with many places in between. She went snow skiing with family, cruises to the Islands, she traveled abroad to Europe with her daughter Marilyn, Maynor, friends Carol McVay & Jackie Revels to visit France & Italy, she went to Costa Rica several times and to Mexico & Canada. She was never one to pass up a quick day trip or a mini-vacay. She loved to go to thrift & antique stores and browse the 'treasures'. She enjoyed being outdoors and doing yard work and tending her flowers & plants, she took a few trips down to the Keys and over to Steinhatchee with family to play in water & sunshine. She enjoyed going fishing off her dock or in the boat with her daughter Marilyn. She adored and loved having horses and declared them as the most beautiful animals on earth. She was a strong-willed, independent, spirited, southern woman. If you knew her you knew it was going to be done HER way and that was true right up to the very end when the Lord called her home.

Carolyn was a nurse who cared for many during her nursing career. She enjoyed the occupation she chose and was well respected in her chosen profession. She cared deeply for her patients, especially her geriatric ones. Carolyn along with her husband Chuck owned and operated Charlies Fish Camp for several years. Carolyn was active in the shrimp boat business with her first husband Lynwood Anderson and also operated a fish camp in the 60's as well.

Carolyn aka 'Nannyma" will be missed by many.
