Carolyn Sands Kirkland Kight, 86, passed away on May 15, 2024, at the Ogeechee Area Hospice Inpatient Center in Statesboro, Georgia. She was born on September 19, 1937, in Glennville, Georgia to Harry Sands, Sr and Lenora "Doll" Parker Sands and lived here all of her life.

Known for her compassionate nature and unwavering dedication to helping others, Carolyn touched the lives of many as a social worker at Glenvue Nursing Home for many years. 

Outside of her professional life, Carolyn found joy in various hobbies and interests. She had a green thumb and found solace in gardening, canning vegetables and flowers. Her favorite flowers were red roses. Her culinary skills were unmatched as she lovingly cooked for her family, creating lasting memories around the dinner table. Family was everything to Carolyn, and she cherished every moment spent with her loved ones.

A faithful member of Ella Grove Baptist Church, Carolyn's kind spirit and generosity were evident in all aspects of her life. She leaves behind a legacy of love and compassion that will be remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing her.

Carolyn is preceded in death by her parents, husband, Oscar Kirkland, Jr, siblings, Don Sands, Shelby Jean Anderson, Doris Chapman and Becky Phillips.

She is survived by:

Husband, Ernest Kight of Glennville, Georgia

Children, Cindy Mann (Johnny) of Greenville, South Carolina
                Patsy Ray (Danny) of Glennville, Georgia
                Lorre Ellis (Barry) of Macon, Georgia

Step-Children, Michael Kight (Debbie) of Michigan
                        Cathy Kight of Metter, Georgia
                        June Kight of Virginia

Siblings, Harry Sands Jr. (Marsha) of Glennville, Georgia
               Dale McGowan of Waynesboro, Georgia

Five grandchildren, eight great grandchildren, six step-grandchildren, one step-grandchild, several nieces and nephews also survive.

Visitation will begin at 10:00 am, Friday, May 17, 2024 at Brannen Family Funeral Services. Funeral Services will follow at 11:00 am, Friday May 17, 2024 at the chapel of Brannen Family Funeral Services. Burial will follow in the Glennville City Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers remembrances may be made to: Ella Grove Baptist Church PO Box 971, Glennville, Georgia 30427, or Ogeechee Area Hospice, PO Box 531, Statesboro, Georgia 30459.
