Carolyn L. Martin passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on November 9, 2025 at her home in Philo.
Carolyn was born on May 17, 1942, in Columbus, Ohio. She is the daughter of the late Jesse and Eleanor J. (Williams) Bass.
She spent nearly 40 years working for the Franklin Local School District. She really enjoyed her job and loved being around the students at the school.
Carolyn devoted her life to caring for her family and animals, especially her cat Johnny “D”. She found joy in the simple pleasures. She loved crocheting, crossword puzzles, jigsaw puzzles, and playing card games. Especially, 500 Rummy. Above all, Carolyn treasured the time she spent with her loved ones, holding those moments closest to her heart. Especially, those with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
She had special friends that she held close to her heart, Janet, Jennifer, Deidre, “Little Lizzie” and her girls at work.
Carolyn married James A. Martin on June 6, 1959. She is survived by two daughters, Kelly (Darla Tovar) Sims of Zanesville; and Jodi Warner of Philo; her eight grandchildren, Cory (Ashley) Hartman, Cody (Tiffany) Hartman, Wesley Moore, Stacy (Paul) Swan, Nathan (Jody) Martin; Kari (Andrew) Crist and Amanda Tovar and Kristoffer Tovar; her seven great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Her two brothers, David Bass and Rick Bass, and a half-sister Linda Bentley.
In addition to her parents, Carolyn is preceded in death by her husband, James A Martin and a son, James "Craig” Martin.
Visitations will be 2 PM to 7 PM on Thursday, November 13, 2025 at the Farus Funeral Home of Duncan Falls. Visitations will also be held from 11 AM to 1 PM on Friday, November 14, 2025, at the funeral home. Following visitations a funeral service will be held at 1 PM. Pastor Jody Holland will officiate the service. Carolyn will be laid to rest beside her husband, James A. Martin and her son James “Craig” Martin, in the Duncan Falls Cemetery.
