Carolyn LaVerne Guest Hall, 91, of Clyattville, passed away peacefully on October 31, 2025, at Archbold Living Cairo after a brief illness. Born on January 4, 1934 in Abbeville, Georgia, Mrs. Hall was the daughter of the late Clyde Bennett Guest, Sr., and Lillian McKie Guest. The family moved to Bemiss, Georgia, shortly thereafter, and she remained in Lowndes County until her recent transition to Archbold Living. Mrs. Hall was one of the last living graduates of the Pine Grove High School class of 1950. The class remained close, gathering for annual reunions until recent years, and she faithfully served as the organizer, contacting classmates to arrange their gatherings.
After high school, she attended Valdosta State College (VSU), where she met her lifelong friend and later sister-in-law, JoAnn Hall Hartman, who introduced her to her future husband. Following her time at VSC. Mrs. Hall attended Central Business College in Valdosta which led to a long career as a bookkeeper at the Marbut Company-later known as Hughes Supply- in Valdosta. Mrs. Hall married James Ludy Hall in 1954, and they resided in Clyattville, Georgia, until his passing in 2008. During their life together, they worshiped at Bemiss United Methodist Church, Forrest Street United Methodist Church, and most recently at Lake Park Community Church where she was a member. Mrs. Hall was active in the music ministry and enjoyed playing the piano and singing with the choir in each church they attended. Her impeccable bookkeeping skills served her well while serving as the treasurer of Forrest Street UMC for many years.
Mrs. Hall loved her family and was a wonderful mother and Mimi to her children and grandchildren. She is survived by her children and their spouses, Sharon Hall Flythe and Louie Flythe of Valdosta, Gregg and Terri Hall of Clyattville, and Cindy Hall Huff and Glen Huff of Christmas, Florida. Her grandchildren include Haley Flythe Morris and Caleb Morris of Thomasville, Hunter James Huff of Christmas, Florida; great-granddaughter, Lainey Carlton Morris of Thomasville, as well as Kristi and Brendan Rigg, Brittany Rigg Haney and Lucas Haney, Samantha Huff Williams, Sabrina Huff, Kailee Bowser and Cole Bowser, Brandon Smith, and Weston Cole Bowser; two sisters-in-law, Hester Peavy Guest of Valdosta and Judith Wells Hall of Lake City, Florida and a number of nieces and nephews. She was preceded by her parents Clyde and Lillian Guest, her husband, James Ludy Hall, her sister, Ruby Lillian Guest DeLoach, her brother, Clyde Bennett Guest, Jr., and her brothers and sisters-in-law, Lloyd DeLoach, Sherman and Madelyn Hall, Lowell Hall, JoAnn Hall Hartman and Gene Hartman, Margery Hall Stephens and Elwood Stephens and Wonda Hall Arnold and Charles Arnold.
Services for Carolyn LaVerne Guest Hall will be held on Wednesday, November 5, 2025, at 11 a.m. in the chapel of the Carson McLane Funeral Home with burial to follow in the Lake Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at 10 a.m. at the funeral home. Flowers will be accepted or donations may be made to Archbold Hospice Thomasville.
