Carolyn Leggitt Hillman, age 91, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on November 7, 2025. Carolyn was born on June 15, 1934, to Albert H. Leggitt and Eugenia Lyles Leggitt.
Carolyn devoted her life to her faith, family, and community. She was a proud member of Life Song Baptist Church in Greenbrier, Arkansas, and formerly of Parkview Church in Monroe, Louisiana. Her love for the Lord guided every part of her life, and she lived each day with grace, kindness, and a joyful heart.
She served faithfully for over twenty years with the Louisiana State Department of Corrections, where her dedication and compassion touched many lives. Outside of her career, Carolyn found joy in the simple pleasures—sewing, working jigsaw puzzles, word searches, baking, and traveling. She also had a special place in her heart for animals, always making sure that every stray or wandering creature found a meal on her back porch. Those squirrels will definitely miss her.
Carolyn was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Harry J. Hillman, her father Albert H. Leggitt, and her mother Eugenia Lyles Leggitt.
She is survived by her loving siblings, Bruce Leggitt and wife Debra, Brenda McCormick, Lee Coulter and wife Lebby, Maxine Shelhamer, and numerous nieces and nephews who will cherish her memory.
Carolyn will be remembered for her unwavering faith, her servant’s heart, and the love she freely gave to everyone she met. Her legacy of kindness and devotion to the Lord will live on in all who knew and loved her.
