Carolyn Rose Pyper Marshall

On August 8, 2021, Carolyn Rose Pyper Marshall returned to her heavenly home.

Carolyn was born on a snowy day December 1, 1934, in Salt Lake City, Utah to Glen Giles Pyper and Ora Larue Rose Pyper. She was the first of four girls.

She was raised in Salt Lake City, Oakley, and Springville, Utah. She enjoyed many activities in her youth, including fishing with her sister LuDean, tap dancing, modern dance, pep club, singing with an a cappella choir, and especially dances at her high school with the decorated gym. She graduated from Springville High School in 1953.

After high school, she attended BYU where she had many memorable experiences and lots of fun, including being a member of the Cougarettes dance team.

Carolyn met her sweetheart, Ray Dean Marshall, on a blind date in Salt Lake City. They had a short courtship and were married on December 8, 1955. The two of them began their life together in Salt Lake City with short stints in Northern and Southern California, 34 Years in Brigham City, Utah-where they raised their family-and eventually, after retiring, another 20-plus years in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Carolyn was blessed with four sons who meant everything to her. She was active in PTA, often being a room mother for more than one child at a time. She was also supportive of immeasurable little league and scouting events.

Carolyn enjoyed reading, movies, boating, church involvement, serving wherever and whenever she could, but above all, she enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren, and family and friends.

After her children were older Carolyn worked for Box Elder school district as an elementary school librarian, first at Perry Elementary and eventually at Foothill Elementary in Brigham City where she enjoyed helping kids develop a love of books and reading.

Ray and Carolyn were sealed together in the Las Vegas LDS Temple in 2003. Ray's decision to do this with her brought her immense joy. They both served as temple workers in Las Vegas for some time after this.

Anyone who knew Carolyn recognized her for the loving, kind, and gentle person she was. She had a genuine interest in people and had an easy time making new friends wherever she went. She felt blessed to have so many good friends in her life.

Carolyn is survived by her four children Steven (Philicia), David (Dawneen), James (Mary), Richard (Carrie), nine grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren, and a sister, Sherry Dixon.

Carolyn was preceded in death by her husband Ray, her parents, and her sisters LuDean and Linda.

Carolyn was loved by many and will be missed greatly by all who knew her.

The family would also like to express thanks to the team at Loveland Clinic, the wonderful nurses and CNAs at the Layton Hospital infusion center, and the amazing drivers and staff at Fairfield Village. Your compassion and friendship helped add some brightness to our mother's final years with us.

Funeral services will be held, Friday, August 13, 2021, at 11:00 a.m. at Lindquist Mortuary in Layton, 1867 N. Fairfield Rd, Layton, Utah. Friends may visit with family from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the mortuary prior to the service.

Interment will be at Heber City Cemetery, 680 N. 550 E., Heber City, Utah.
