Fortune-Keough Funeral HomeCarolyn McCormick, age 84, of Lake Placid, passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 14th, 2026 at Elderwood of Uihlein at Lake Placid.
A proud lifelong resident of the Adirondacks, Carolyn was born October 16, 1941, in North Bangor, New York. She was the daughter of Milton and Cora (Shorette) Bombard.
A devoted mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, Carolyn is survived by her children, David (Nannette) McCormick of Syracuse, and Tammy Burdt and her partner Darren Benware of Tupper Lake, two granddaughters, Brittany Krasher and her partner Travis Talbert of Tupper Lake, and Kaitlyn Burdt of Saranac Lake, three great-grandchildren, Peyton, Noah, and Madelynne, whom she cherished dearly, and her sister, Judy Jones of Arizona.
Carolyn instilled in them a love of animals, the importance of hard work, and to always show respect and kindness to others.
Before she developed back issues, Carolyn had a long work history in sales. She worked at Altman’s clothing store, excelled as a Tupperware sales person and manager, and at Casier’s Furniture in Saranac Lake and Tupper Lake. Her dedication and warm personality extended beyond her work. She was a past member of the Lady of the Elks and was crowned Queen of the Winter Carnival in 1981. A testament to her vibrant spirit and community service.
Known for her deep connection to nature, Carolyn found joy in the outdoors and her cherished pets. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and hosting holiday dinners for her family. Kindness, resilience, and love of life left a lasting impact on everyone who knew her.
She was preceded in death by her husband John D. McCormick, her parents, sister Arlene Hogan, and brother Larry Bombard.
She will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing her.
