Edna Carolyn Myatt, age 83, of Columbia, TN, passed peacefully into heaven at NHC Healthcare on September 24, 2025.
She was born on February 13, 1942, in Cross Bridges, TN, and later moved to Columbia with her family. She graduated from Central High School in 1960 and attended Columbia Business College.
In 1970, Carolyn married the love of her life, John Marshall Myatt, and they were married for 42 years.
Carolyn worked for Maury County Hospital and Dr. Vinson until she started a job with the Tennessee Farm Bureau, where she retired.
Carolyn had a deep faith in the Lord and was a life-long member of Highland Park Baptist Church. She loved singing in the choir, serving in the children’s ministry, and supporting Operation Christmas Child.
Carolyn’s favorite hobby was listening to music and singing along. She also loved her cat, Blondie, fruit tea, bird-watching, cookies (really, all things sweet), flowers, and bright red lipstick. She enjoyed sending cards and never missed a birthday or holiday.
Carolyn’s favorite color was yellow, which truly symbolized the light of Jesus and the contagious joy and peace that she radiated to everyone. She was the kindest and most thoughtful soul. Her sweet smile will be deeply missed.
Carolyn adored her family. She was preceded in death by her husband, John Marshall Myatt; her parents, Edward Arnold Lyles and Edna Hines Lyles; her sister, Josephine (Larry) Waggoner; her brother,Edward (Jean) Lyles; and dear friend, Elizabeth Prince.
Carolyn is survived by her niece, Jennifer Gay (Jimi) Williams; her nephew, Jason (Rachel) Lyles; her great-niece and nephews, Jaycie Lyles, Christian Williams, Elijah Williams, and Rhett Lyles; and lifelongfriends, Doris Haley Stewart and Nancy Williams.
We want to extend our heartfelt appreciation to her faithful caregiver, Tonya Braden, and the amazing staff of NHC Columbia and Caris Healthcare for their diligent care and unfailing love for Carolyn.
A celebration of life service will be at Williams Funeral Home on Sunday, September 28, 2025. Visitation is 12:30-2:00 pm with service at 2:00 pm.
Pallbearers will be Rhett Lyles, Elijah Williams, Christian Williams, Damien Prince, Todd Prince, Chad Prince, and Jerry Corvin.
