Carolyn Phillips Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Pittsburgh Cremation & Funeral Care - Robinson Township on Oct. 16, 2025.
Carolyn L. Phillips, 74, of Marianna, passed away May 3, 2025 peacefully at home, surrounded by her family after a sudden and brief illness. Born on April 4, 1951, she was the daughter of the late Lawrence and Betty Rizor of Ninevah.

Carolyn lived a very simple and private life. She enjoyed creating beautiful flower gardens and arrangements and she took great pride in her immaculate landscaping. She was most at home on her tractor, and she cared for the lawn and cemetery of Ten Mile Brethren Church for many years. Carolyn loved to be outside and active, and she was always competing with her family on who walked more steps daily on their Fitbits. Carolyn loved living out in the country and she raised goats, llamas and miniature horses over the years.

Carolyn enjoyed quilting and cross-stitching, and she made each of her grandchildren a baby blanket. More than anything, Carolyn loved to be a grandmother. Her three grandchildren were her biggest joys. She loved their visits and supporting them at their youth games. She never turned down a sleepover and started her tradition of taking her grandchildren to Starbucks, Chick-fil-A and a birthday shopping spree.

Carolyn was a 1969 graduate of West Greene High School. In the 1970s, she worked at Mikus Beauty Salon. On June 26, 1976, she married Eric B. Phillips, who survives. Together they had two daughters, Rebecca Valdiserri (Ryan) of McMurray, and Ashley (John) Kreamcheck of Speers.

After raising her family, Carolyn returned to work at Sharper Image Hair Salon. She enjoyed the company of all of the regular Friday ladies getting their weekly hair treatments. Carolyn was a member of Ten Mile Brethren Church.

Surviving in addition to her husband and daughters, are her beloved grandchildren, Calista, Maraleigh and Jameson Valdiserri and her loyal dog, Princess. Carolyn is also survived by a sister, Leona (Duane) Main of Deemston and a brother Larry (Sharon) Rizor of Friendsville.

Carolyn loved flowers, gardening and planting. In lieu of flowers, the family asks the you plant a perennial in Carolyn's honor.

Services and burial are private and will be handled by Pittsburgh Cremation and Funeral Care.
