Carolyn Margaret Siewert, age 93, a longtime resident of Clinton Township, Michigan passed shortly after midnight on the morning of Tuesday, November 11, 2025 at McLaren Macomb Hospital in Mount Clemens, MI. She was born on November 10, 1932 in the City of Detroit, MI to Eric and Edna (Pervis) Gates. Carolyn became a bride at the age of 21, marrying Herman Robert Siewert on September 11, 1954 in Detroit. As a young couple establishing their path in the "Golden Age" of the 1950s," they soon relocated to the suburbs and began a family with the arrival of their first child William followed by daughters Margaret and Dianne.

Carolyn and her husband became members at Grace Episcopal Church in Mt. Clemens where she has remained active for over 70 years. Serving on the Altar Guild, Ladies League, and volunteering countless hours in the nursery, food pantry, assisting with funeral luncheons, and the social clubs at the church brought Carolyn much peace and enjoyment. As a younger lady raising her family, Carolyn volunteered as a Girl Scouts Leader, enjoyed camping, and played pinochle in the neighborhood card club.

As her children became more independent, Carolyn began a career with the Macomb Intermediate School District serving as a Paraprofessional assisting the teachers with special needs children. She retired in the mid 1990's after 18 years from Bovenschen School in Warren, MI. Carolyn possessed a passion for the arts, attending many events at the Macomb Center for the Performing Arts and others in Stratford, Ontario, Canada. In addition to baking and cooking, she was an avid reader, enjoyed travelling, and always looked forward to the winter getaways with her husband and friends in Ocala, Florida. Carolyn will be remembered for the countless smiles and hugs she shared with others, including many strangers that she felt needed to be noticed.

Cherishing every moment spent with friends and family, Carolyn found immense joy in both casual gatherings and special celebrations. Her legacy lives on in the hearts of her children William (Linda) Siewert, Margaret (William) Siewert Morgan, and Dianne (Raffaele) Tomarchio, and brother Eric (Nancy) Gates Jr. She is also survived by eight grandchildren; Nicholas, William Jr., Anthony, William, Brian, Daniel, Benjamin, and Jessica along with her great-grandchildren who brought her much joy and happiness, Abigail, Zachary, Zoe, and Aubrey. In addition to her parents, Carolyn was preceded in death by her husband Herman of 57 years on May 31, 2011 and her sister Kay Nelson.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, November 28, 2025 from 4:00p.m. until 8:00p.m. at Grace Episcopal Church, 115 South Main Street, Mt. Clemens. Memorial donations in memory of Carolyn are suggested to the church or to the Karmanos Cancer Institute. Carolyn will join her husband in the columbarium at Grace Episcopal Church. Cremation arrangements entrusted to the Harold W. Vick Funeral Home, Mt. Clemens. Share memories, express condolences, and sign her online guestbook at www.vickfuneralhome.com.
