Carolyn Mae (Knight) Storey, 71, of Lewiston, passed away on Thursday, Sept. 25, 2025. She was born on Dec. 3, 1953, in Lewiston, to Walter John Rex Knight and Arliss Mae (Meyer) Knight.
Carolyn grew up in Lewiston and graduated from Lewiston High School in 1972. She went on to attend Lewis-Clark State College for one year before transferring to Walla Walla Community College, where she earned her Licensed Practical Nurse degree. Carolyn devoted much of her career to caring for others, working as a nurse for Dr. Seibly in Clarkston, Dr. Fielding in Lewiston, and Dr. Lambert in Clarkston. Later, she worked as a cashier at A&B Foods before retiring.
She was married in Lewiston to George Storey before later divorcing. Carolyn's greatest joy was always her family. She is survived by her daughter, Molly Whitlock of Lewiston; her grandson, Gunnar Whitlock of Rangely, Colo.; her son-in-law Brandon (Stella) Whitlock of Lewiston; her brother Walter (Barbara) Knight of Olympia; her sister Julie (Jay) Starnes of Lewiston; her brother Douglas (Susan) Clark of Lewiston; and her sisters Denise (Mike) Barclay of Sebring, Fla.; Traci (Clint) Knight of Waterville, Wash.; Lori (John) Knight of Fairplay, Colo.; and Cheryl Knight of Mesa, Wash. She is also survived by many beloved nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and -nephews, including Janell (Jesse) Bruck and their daughters Ella and Addyson of Lewiston; Justin Starnes and his daughter Zoey of Lewiston; Lindsay Skinner of Lewiston and her daughter Sydney of New York; and Tyler (Autumn) Clark and their daughter Mae of Coeur d'Alene. Carolyn also shared a lifelong bond with her best friend Kathy Morgan ("Morgie"), who was like a sister to her, and with Kathy's daughters Jodi, Jessi and Dani, who were like nieces.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Walter Rex Knight and Arliss and Earl Witt; her stepfather, Gale Clark; her brother, Mark Knight; and her grandchildren, Ridge and Lily Whitlock.
Carolyn loved life to the fullest. She enjoyed camping in Elk River and on the Selway, boating in Coeur d'Alene, and cheering for her beloved Seattle Seahawks. She loved attending country music concerts and looked forward to Thanksgiving every year - never missing the chance to take a picture of the "beautiful turkey." She was the life of the party, the best mom, grammy, sister, auntie and friend her family and friends could have asked for. Her memory will live on in the hearts of all who loved her.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
