Carolyn Joyce Strauser was called home to be with the Lord on November 9, 2025. She passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, at her home.
Carolyn was born in Springfield Missouri on March 2, 1937. Shortly after she moved to Leasburg Missouri.
She met Willard "Bud" Lee Strauser and they married on June 15, 1957. Bud and Carolyn returned to Springfield, where they worked for Thieme Funeral Home for many years. They were happily married for nearly 46 years. Carolyn retired from the BNSF Railroad on March 17, 1997 after 30 years of service.
Carolyn loved the Lord and sharing her story of salvation with others. She was an active member of Crossway Baptist Church until her health started to decline. Carolyn enjoyed going out with other members of Crossway to share the Gospel with people that had visited her Church. For years she volunteered with the Good News Club in the Springfield Public Schools, sharing the love of Christ with the children.
Carolyn was preceded in death by her father Gerald Thomas, mother Alma Woods, step-father Roy Woods, brother Robert Thomas, sister Dorothy Ray, husband Willard "Bud" Lee Strauser and daughter Laurie Ruffa. She is survived by her daughter Marsha Strauser-Rea, husband Brian and their children Melody and Tyler. Her son Willard Kirk Strauser, wife Jennifer and their children Gabriella, Jacob, Ariana and Nicholas. Her brother-in-law Harold Ray, as well as many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be on November 13, 2025 from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm. Service will be on November 14, 2025 at 1:00 pm. Both will be held at Greenlawn North Funeral Home.
