Carolyn L. Vandegrift passed away on November 11, 2025, at her residence, surrounded by her loving family. Born on April 24, 1949, Carolyn's life was marked by her deep love for her family, passionate hobbies, and unforgettable memories.
A devoted mother, Carolyn is survived by her daughters, Cynthia Forbes (Jerry Sloop), Lisa Gainey (Ron Atkinson), and Teresa Huggins (Dane), all residing in Hartsville. Her legacy also includes her beloved grandchildren: Brandon Forbes, Candice Johnson, Byran Ellis, Randy Keith, Alex Gainey, and Taylor Gainey. Additionally, she is remembered by her great-grandchildren, Noah Norris, Lily Norris, Bailee Davis, and Mya Johnson. Carolyn is also survived by her sister, Barbara Hrasdzira of Wilmington, NC, and her brother, Rick Vandegrift (Stella) from Florida.
Carolyn’s interests were as vibrant as her personality. She cherished her time spent traveling with her daughter, Lisa, and took great pleasure in birdwatching. Her love for the beach, bowling, and cruising showcased her adventurous spirit. An enthusiast of lighthouses, Carolyn found joy in their beauty, reflecting her appreciation for the serene and inspiring aspects of nature.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Richard and Nina June Keiderling Vandegrift and her brother, David Vandegrift.
As we remember Carolyn L. Vandegrift, we celebrate the abundant love she shared and the joyful experiences that will forever live on in the hearts of her family and friends.
