Carolyn Walser Obituary
Published by Legacy Remembers on Dec. 27, 2020.
Carolyn "Tinker" Walser, Age 60, went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Sunday December 27, 2020. She passed peacefully in her sleep at her home following complications from Dementia. She was born in Madison, WI on March 10, 1960 to Carolyn and Ralph Walser. Carolyn was born with Down's Syndrome and was very tiny. She was given the nickname "Tinker" by her beloved grandfather Jim. She defied all odds and lived a long and fulfilling life despite early predictions that she likely would not survive to early childhood. Carolyn loved family, food, music, and dancing. She listened mostly to Country music but was crazy about the group KISS. She was quick with a hug and a smile and personified what it is to show unconditional love to others. She had a special talent for remembering dates and the names of songs and artists. She could name a song and artist after hearing only a few notes. And, if you reciprocated the unconditional love she offered she would give you a nickname and would never forget your birthday or anniversary date. Big Brother, Big Boss, Big Red, Big Bucks, CJ, The Huggables, Whiskey Girl, Dancing Queen, My Special Angel, and the list goes on and on. She had an endearing stubborn side too. When she went somewhere in a car, there was only one place Carolyn would sit and that was the front seat.
In 2004 Carolyn experienced the special joy of independence with the help of MARC (agency serving adults w/developmental disabilities), Walgreens (Employer), Dreamweavers (residential support agency), Able Trek (Special Needs Tour Company) and many selfless individuals. She moved into her own apartment and enjoyed her job at the Walgreens Distribution Center in Windsor, WI where she never missed a day of work. Her motivation was her kitty whom she loved deeply. Able Trek Tours helped to facilitate a dream vacation to Hawaii and many other trips to places like The Grand Ole Opry, Nashville, Branson, and Graceland. She so enjoyed her kitty, her apartment, job, spending time with family and friends during the holidays, and traveling with Able Trek. "Tinker" was an amazing and special person and will be dearly missed by many.
The family would like to express our sincere gratitude to the many people who helped Carolyn live a meaningful and joyful life. Our special thanks to Dreamweavers and Agrace Hospice staff for the special care and comfort you provided in her final days. Thank you so much Barbara, Billy Jo, Kathy, Melissa, Bev, Dr. Loving, and Aunt Bonnie.
Survivors include father Ralph Walser (Portage, WI), sister Catherine Walser (Baraboo, WI), brother Skip and Kristi Walser (Acworth, GA), nephews Nicholas Lambert and Matthew and David Walser, niece Samantha Lambert, and grand niece Renee Walser, as well as many aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Carolyn was preceded in death by sister Christine Yolanda Walser, mother Carolyn Anita Walser, grandparents Roy and Grace Walser and Jim and Betty Virnig, niece Christine Anita Marie Lambert, and several Aunts and Uncles.
Due to COVID a celebration of life will held next year. In lieu of flowers or gifts the family suggests a memorial contribution in remembrance of Carolyn "Tinker" Walser be made to Dreamweavers at 612 W. Main St. #303 Madison, WI 53703.
