Carolyn Smith Watson, 74, died on Wednesday, February 28, 2024. Born July 5, 1949 in Wadesboro, NC, she was a daughter of the late Manley Everette Smith, Jr. and the late Pauline Annie Buff Smith. Carolyn was a member of North Cheraw Baptist Church in Cheraw, SC and a former member of the Coastal Ski Club.
Carolyn's vibrant spirit and warm heart touched the lives of all who knew her. She exuded a zest for life and approached everyone with open arms. A devoted mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, she was always willing to help those in need. Carolyn's love for reading was only matched by her love for conversation - she had a gift for keeping others engaged even when she spoke to an empty room. Her passion for travel led her to sunny beaches and majestic waterfalls alike. Carolyn found joy in dancing and listening to beach music, country tunes, and jazz melodies. Above all else, her greatest happiness stemmed from moments spent with her cherished family.
Along with her parents, listed above, Carolyn was preceded in death by an infant son, Bryant Watson; her daughter, Dana Carol Kyzer; and a grandchild, Taylor McKinney.
She leaves behind to cherish her memory a family whom she adored, including a son, Miles E. “Mike” Watson, Jr. of the home; a brother, Skip Smith of Murrells Inlet, SC; sisters, Clova Smith of Cheraw, SC, Nancy Workman of Cheraw, SC, and Paula Jacobs (Marty) of Chesterfield, SC; a half brother, Edward Connors (Marsha) of Colorado; grandchildren, Chelsea McKinney, Bryant Kyzer; and bonus grandson, Sam Flowers; and a son-in-law, Hugh Jones.
A memorial service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, March 3, 2024 at North Cheraw Baptist Church in Cheraw, SC.
The family will receive friends from 2:00 until 3:00 p.m. just prior to the service at the church, and other times at the home of Carolyn's sister, Clova, 205 Powe Street, Cheraw, SC 29520.
It was Carolyn’s wish that everyone in attendance on Sunday wear red, because that was her absolute favorite color.
Kiser Funeral Home has been entrusted to serve the Watson family in their time of grief.
