Carolyn Ann Jacobs Wells, 82 of Fordyce, was received into heaven by her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on January 18th surrounded by her family. She was born on November 28, 1943 in Little Rock, AR. She was the daughter of the late James Porter Jacobs and Louise Derryberry Jacobs. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband of 62 years, Travis Daniel Wells. For many years, she was active member of Zion Baptist Church. She served as a Sunday School teacher, deacons’ wife and various other roles in the churches she attended. She is survived by her sister Nancy McMurry and husband Jim of Bartlett, TN and she is survived by her three children, Karen Moffett and husband Danny of Sheridan, Sheila Gaither and husband Randy of Bismarck, Craig Wells and wife Shannon of Sheridan; six grandchildren, Jay Moffett and wife Brittani, Josh Moffett and wife Megan, Ben Gaither, Brandon Gaither, Micah Gaither, Adalyn Wells; nine great-grandchildren, Adleigh Moffett, Asher Moffett, Cohen Moffett, Lawson Moffett, Griffin Moffett, Paxton Moffett, Fenleigh Moffett, Esleigh Moffett, Steeleigh Moffett.
She held many jobs during her life, such as teacher aid for alternative learning, bookkeeper for the church, sewing luxury children's clothing, and most importantly to her, being mom. She loved working in the garden and watching her flowers and family grow. She enjoyed traveling, hiking, and camping and riding the "mule" with her husband, dog and family and friends. But her most prized role was being "Nana" to her many grandchildren and great grandchildren that she loved so much and considered each a blessing. Although Proverbs 31:10-31 predates her, it is a reflection of her life.
A special thank you for the care she received by the staff at Saline Memorial Hospital, Gentiva Hospice, and the Manor Assisted Living.
