Carolyn Youck

Carolyn J. Youck, 89, of Centralia, passed away, Wednesday, November 22, 2023 at St. Louis University Hospital.
She was born August 16, 1934 in Centralia, the daughter of Harold Langenfeld and Marion (Flanigan) Langenfeld. Carolyn married Bennie Youck on July 9, 1960 at St. Mary Catholic Church in Centralia and he survives.
In addition to her husband of 63 years, Bennie Youck of Centralia, Carolyn is also survived by her three children: Laurie Holmes and husband Danny of Centralia, Larry Youck and wife Carm of Swansea, and Lennie Youck and wife Kelley of New Baden; six grandchildren: Ashley Calvert and husband Donnie of Centralia, Alexis Holmes and Blaine Murray of Centralia, Adam Youck and wife Alyssa of O'Fallon, Ryan Youck and Katie of St. Louis, MO, Sharon Youck of New Baden, and Andrew Youck and Samantha of New Baden; and six great-grandchildren: Jaelynn, Kelan, Kaden, Braeden, Axel, and Harper.
She was preceded in death by her parents: Harold and Marion Langenfeld, step-mother: Helen Langenfeld, grandson: Alex Holmes, step-sister: Susan Thurman, and brother-in-law: Richard Thurman.
Carolyn graduated from St. Mary's Grade School and Centralia High School. She worked at Lear Siegler's office, Lee's Drug Store and JC Penny's all here in Centralia.
She was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Centralia. Carolyn enjoyed listening to her books on her tape recorder. No matter where Carolyn was, she would have her police scanner close to her side. She was a very devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother to her family and she will be deeply missed.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday, November 29, 2023 at 11:00 AM at St. Mary Catholic Church in Centralia with Father Steven Pautler officiating. Visitation will be held Wednesday at the church from 10:00 AM until the time of service. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park in Centralia. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the St. Mary School and will be accepted at the Sutherland-Garnier Funeral Home, 235 North Sycamore Street Centralia, Illinois 62801, (618)532-3523, who is honored to be of service to the Youck Family.
