Carrie Lynn Metcalf, 66, of Albion, IL , born June 15, 1959, to Jane and Delbert Michels, passed away on March 27, 2026 after a six month battle with complications from heart surgery. She was not only a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother – she was the center of her family, around whom everything else quietly revolved. She was generous, accepting, and kind, with a mischievous streak a mile wide. She brought immense joy to all who knew her and will be profoundly missed.
For nearly 49 years, Carrie built a life side by side with her husband Jeff. From a young age, they created a story rooted in love, resilience, and unwavering commitment. To know Carrie was to understand that her family was her world. She poured herself into her children and grandchildren – not just caring for them, but truly loving them in a way that made each one feel seen, safe, and deeply valued.
She had a gift for making ordinary moments meaningful, finding simple joy in mornings spent by the wood stove with her husband, watching the kids and grandkids play in the water, or simply spending time together with family and friends. Carrie always had a smile and never met a stranger.
Carrie faced more than her share of hardship in life, but she met it with strength, grit, and a sense of humor that could lighten even the heaviest moments. Whatever she was up against, she kept going. Still showing up for her family, still finding ways to be part of everything that mattered. She remained anchored by her love for her husband and family and the beautiful life they had built together.
She is survived by her husband, Jeff; her three children, Jason, Sarah and Ethan; and her five grandchildren, Alyvia, Axel, Fiona, Eleanor, and Hugh; all of whom she deeply loved and cherished. She had an immense impact on the people they each are today, and her memory will continue to guide them, always.
Visitation for Carrie Metcalf will be held at Ingram Meridith Funeral Home in Albion, IL on Thursday, April 2, 2026 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Funeral Services will be held on Friday, April 3, 2026 at 10:00 a.m. with burial to follow at Mt. Zion Cemetery, south of Albion.
