Carrie Brown Miller

Carrie Brown Miller, 92, of Scottsville, Virginia, died Monday, May 4, 2009, at Martha Jefferson Hospital.

She was born on January 8, 1917, in Albemarle County, a daughter of the late Luther H. and Lula (Carroll) Brown.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Harold Pernell "Speedy" Miller; and her first husband, Charles William "Charlie" Parr; five sisters, Margie Carroll, Evelyn Ragland, Nellie Scott, Mamie Royall, and Thelma Watson; and four brothers, Walter, Arthur, Willis and Luther Brown, Jr.

She is survived by her daughter, Faye Moneymaker; one sister, Mary Brooks; two grandsons, Barry Reynolds and his wife, Jeannette, and Chuck Reynolds and his former wife, Melanie; one granddaughter, Teresa Beahm and her husband, Mike; eight great-grandchildren; three step-great-grandchildren; one great-great grandson and a number of nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Miller retired from Uniroyal in Scottsville with 27 years of service. She was a member of Scottsville United Methodist Church.

A graveside service will be held 2 p.m. Thursday, May 7, 2009, at Scottsville Cemetery by the Reverend Jeane Dunkham.

The family will receive friends from 7 until 8 p.m. Wednesday, May 6, 2009, at Thacker Brothers Funeral Home in Scottsville.
