Carroll Rollins Obituary

Carroll Reed Rollins passed away on March 15, 2025. He was 99 years old. A resident of The Summitt Assisted Living of Lakewood Ranch, Florida. Born and raised by relatives in Bishopville SC, after the death of his parents, Charles W. and Lillian Rollins and also pre-deceased by his brother, Lewis Wilburn Rollins. After high school he joined the US Navy in 1943 serving during WWII. Discharged in 1945, he moved to Florida and enrolled at the Univ. of Florida graduating in 1950. He was a member of the Phi Kappa Tau Fraternity. He was employed with General Finance Corp for 20 years and owned and operated a commercial orange grove in Lee County for 25 years. Reed was married to his first wife, Ann Renee Browne formally from Palm Beach FL, for 29 years. Renee passed away in 1985 at their home in Sarasota. In 1995, Reed re-married to Jane Rooks of Pensacola and resided there until 2018 after Jane passed away. He moved back to the Sarasota/Bradenton area to live out the remainder of his years. He was a life time member of the Optimist Club of Sarasota and North Pensacola. He leaves behind his immediate family members with his first wife, Renee, his daughter Rhonda Cohen-Katzenberger (Mark) of Lakewood Ranch, son, Ronald B. Rollins of Gainesville FL and daughter, Risa R. Moore (Darren) of Naples FL and grandchildren, Nicole Gueli McCroskey (Jeff), David Reed Cohen (Christy), Carter Reed Moore, Reagan Moore and Truman Moore and 4 great-grandchildren. He also leaves 2 step children from his 2nd wife, Jane, her son, Dale Rooks (Teri) and daughter, Raynee Rooks-Bouillion (Barry), and 5 step grandchildren. Memorial service and internment will be with Robert Toale and Sons at the Palm Memorial Cemetery, Sarasota Florida, March 29.
