Carroll Vaughan Rumble, age 90, of Fishers, Indiana, formerly of Petersburg and New Palestine, passed away on Saturday, August 16, 2025 at Community Heart and Vascular Center following complications sustained during an angioplasty and sternotomy procedure.
Born on December 8, 1934, in Petersburg, Indiana, he was the son of Turner Burl Rumble and Emma Vaughan Rumble. Carroll married the former Wilma Tegmeyer, with whom he shared 70 years of faithful marriage. He graduated from Petersburg High School in 1957 and went on to become a two-time graduate of Indiana State Teachers College, earning a bachelor’s degree in science in 1957 and a master’s degree in science in 1962.
Carroll lived a life full of adventure, activity, and travel. He proudly served as a high school counselor, dedicating 25 years toward education. Carroll also spent time serving as a realtor after retiring from education. Those who knew Carroll will remember him as a man of wit and intelligence, whose sharp mind was matched only by his kind heart. Always well-mannered and thoughtful, he carried himself with a quiet grace that drew people to him. A social soul who cherished good conversation and laughter, he found his greatest joy in the love of his family.
He had a deep appreciation for nature and loved staying active, whether exploring the outdoors or simply enjoying time in motion. A true enthusiast of classic cars and a lifelong scholar, he found beauty in the world through his camera lens and carried a curiosity that inspired those around him. Carroll relished every opportunity to connect with people and share in life’s experiences.
Along with his wife Wilma, he is survived by his only son, Kevin Rumble, and wife Taja Rumble of Fishers, Indiana; two cherished grandchildren, Darby Rumble of Fishers, and Jackson Rumble and wife Keeley Rumble of Pendleton, Indiana; and three adored great-granddaughters, Kaelynn, Kensley, and Charley Rumble of Pendleton. He is reunited in peace with his parents, Turner and Emma, and his two brothers, Doyle and Jess.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, August 23, 2025 with visitation at 2:00 p.m. and a brief service at 4:00 p.m. at Randall & Roberts Fishers Mortuary, 12010 Allisonville Road in Fishers, Indiana.
