Dover - Carter W. Ames, 74, passed away Wednesday December 24, 2025, following a long battle with Alzheimer’s disease.
He was born in Rochester on April 1, 1951, to Simeon Ames and Alma (Lafontaine) Ames.
Carter worked for the City of Somersworth Public Works Department for 35 years. He was very dedicated to his job, as well as his wood business. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and was a member of Victory Club in Rochester.
He was married to Nancy for 39 years, together they had 2 daughters. Kelly (John) Verbicky and Kandi O'Brien. His grandchildren Spencer, JJ and Isabella. His siblings include a brother Francis and sisters Garnar (Robert) Desjardins and Raeann Warren. He had several nieces and nephews and many friends, and his expected first great grandchild in March of 2026.
Family and friends may visit Tuesday December 30, 2025, from 2PM – 4 PM at the R.M. Edgerly Funeral Home, 86 S. Main St. Rochester, NH.
A memorial service will follow at 4PM in the chapel of the funeral home.
Following the services there will be a celebration of Carter's life from 4:30 PM - 8:00 PM at the American Legion, located at 94 Eastern Ave. Rochester, NH 03867
