Carver Hastie Baldwin, 78, of Charlotte, passed away peacefully on February 15, 2026, at Novant Health in Matthews. Born on February 17, 1947, in
San Francisco, California, he was the beloved son of Warren and Bennie Jewel Baldwin.
Carver's early years took him from the West Coast to Houston, Texas, where his family settled during his teenage years. He attended Prairieview College before answering his country's call to service and enlisting in the United States Army. His time in the military shaped his sense of discipline, responsibility, and devotion to others-qualities that would define the rest of his life.
Following his honorable discharge, Carver moved to Syracuse, New York, where he began a long and meaningful career with the City Developmental Center. There, he dedicated himself to supporting individuals with special needs, offering patience, compassion, and steady guidance to those who depended on him. His work was not simply a job; it was a calling, and he served with quiet integrity.
In 2011, he met Ms. Sharon Damanski at the Dunkin Donuts where he usually stopped. They started a friendship that led to a loving relationship and on Valentines Day, 2017.
In 2013, Carver relocated to Charlotte, where he continued to work diligently and build a life rooted in family and purpose. Though he was known for his strong work ethic, Carver also embraced the joys that brought him balance-exercising, playing racquetball, and gathering with friends and family for spirited card games. His competitive streak, warm humor, and easy smile made him a welcome presence wherever he went.
Carver is survived by his devoted wife, Sharon; his daughter Angel (husband Terrence) Douglas of Charlotte and their children Tonique, Christian, Corban, and Kyra Joy; his daughter Carla Williams of Charlotte and her children Pebbles, Sharieef, Khalid, and Jerri; his daughter Tonya Williams of Charlotte and her children Jasmine and Jewel; his daughter Shonta Williams of Fort Worth, Texas, and her son Jordan. Carver is also survived by Sharon's daughter: Marysol (Jamey) Racine of Tryon, NC and their daughter Izabelle Racine, Sharon's sons, Juan and Reymundo Tirado of Messena, NY; and his brother Mark "Buddy" (Dessie) Baldwin of Houston and their children Marcus, Deketia, and Moshe, along with numerous other relatives and friends who will carry his memory forward.
He was preceded in death by his parents and by his grandson, Cornell.
A committal service with military honors will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, February 23, at Salisbury National Cemetery Annex, 501 Statesville Blvd, Salisbury, NC 28144, where he will be laid to rest in gratitude for his service and in honor of a life lived with steadfast love and quiet strength.
Carver Baldwin will be remembered for his unwavering dedication to family, his commitment to service, and the steady, dependable presence he offered to all who knew him. His legacy lives on in the generations he nurtured, the lives he touched, and the example he set.
