Cassandra was born in Youngstown, Ohio in 1967 to the late Alvin Leon McCottry, Sr. and Gloria Jean Owens. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Descena Majors, her great-niece, VaNae’ Ivory Prescott, her maternal grandparents, Roberta & Collier Owens, and her paternal grandparents, Emmanuel and Leona McCottry.
Cassandra always had a heart to help others, especially those going through the same life experiences/diseases that she had ultimately overcome. Cassandra leaves a legacy of faith and love. From a very special blended family, cherishing her memory are her Daughters: Tiara Chanee’ McCottry; Shamika Lynn McCottry; Kiana LaShae McCottry | Sisters: Juanita McCottry-Anderson; Teresa Jordan (Vincent); Tyrita McCottry; and Detreece Ofokaire (Jason) | Brothers: Byron McCottry; Alvin McCottry, Jr. Christopher McCottry (Natsuki); and Johnny Warren | Granddaughters: Iyanna McCottry and Tru Mixon | Nieces: JeanMarie’ Anderson, JaNae’ Anderson, Gloria Jordan, Mariah Jordan, Any’eiah Jordan, Erin Springs-McCottry, Shekinah McCottry, Zion McCottry, Sochi Ofokaire, and Taylor Warren | Nephews: Kyle McCottry, Isaiah McCottry, Juluis Davis, Jaspian Gilyard, Samonta Lee, Sabion Ofokaire, Jaylen Warren, Joseph Warren and Joshua Warren | Great-Niece: Jordyn Miller | Great-Nephews: Marvelle Prescott and Mauvie Prescott | Step-Mom, Wanda Cooley-McCottry | Step-Mom, Francille Curry-McCottry | Paternal Uncles: Jonathan McCottry, Sr. (Leigh Ann) and Melvin McCottry (Angela) | (Sister-Friend, Gretchell Jordan, and a host of cousins, uncles, aunts and extended family and friends. Her legacy will continue to live on in the hearts of her family and all who were blessed to know her.
