Cassandra Rae Vargas, 46, of Fruitland, passed away on Thursday, October 10, 2024. She was born on August 23, 1978, in Ontario, Oregon, to Neill J. and Shelley M. Schulthies Goodfellow. On January 31, 1998, she married Matthew A. Lighten, and together they had five beloved children: Jensen N. Lighten, Haylie E. Lighten, Carson B. Lighten, Easton M. Lighten, and Preston G. Lighten. She loved her children and was always proud of their accomplishments.
In 2010 she met her sweetheart, Jose Luis Vargas Jr. In 2014 they were married, adding Anthony Green and Jose Vargas. She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Cassandra was known for her admirable work ethic and the kindness she showed to everyone around her. She was a great support and motivator. She was a light in the dark.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Shelley Goodfellow, and her husband, Jose Vargas. Cassandra is survived by her children Jensen N. Lighten, Haylie E. Lighten, Carson B. Lighten, Easton M. Lighten, and Preston G. Lighten, along with Anthony (Draven) Green, and Jose (Sarah) Vargas; her father Neill J. Goodfellow and her siblings, Nathan (Britany) Goodfellow, Anne (Micah) West, Aaron (Bobbi) Goodfellow, Matthew (Brandie) Goodfellow and many nieces and nephews and grandson Malachi Vargas.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, October 25, 2024, at 11 a.m. at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 325 N Penn. Ave, Fruitland, ID. Graveside dedication to follow at Owyhee Cemetery in Nyssa, Oregon. Viewing is from 10 to 10:45 a.m. on the day of the service. Condolences may be left for the family at www.bowmanfuneral.com
