Catalina Magallanes, age 94, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on September 27, 2025. She was born on April 30, 1931in Abrego, Zacatecas, Mexico. She lived a long life devoted to her family, faith, and community.

Catalina was a faithful woman whose greatest joy was caring for her loved ones. She was married to Ascension Rodriguez until his passing on February 8, 2002. Together, they built a loving family, raising 13 children. She was preceded in death by her parents Alvino and Antonia Magallanes, her husband Ascension and sons Jose Manuel and Ramon Rodriguez.

She was survived by 11 children: Sara (Santiago) Montoya, Irma (Eliseo) Alvarado of Mexico, Salavador (Socorro) Rodriguez, Maria L Rodriguez, Maria C Rodriguez, Aurelia Rodriguez, Raquel (Raul) Picazo, Celia (Baltazar) Panuco, Betty (Erasmo) Jasso, Miguel (Maria) Rodriguez, Hector (Sara) Rodriguez of Salina Kansas. She was preceded in death by her parents Alvino and Antonia Magallanes, her husband Ascension and sons Jose Manuel and Ramon Rodriguez. She had 34 grandchildren, 48 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren.

She was a devoted follower of Our Lady of Perpetual Help, faithfully praying the novena each month for more than 52 years. Catalina deeply cherished the visits of her family, enjoying every moment she shared with them. In her free time, she loved knitting, tending to her garden, and enjoying ice cream with loved ones.

In the later years of her life, Catalina dedicated most of her time to prayer, not only for her family, but also for the needs of the Church and the entire world. Her warmth, strength, and generosity touched everyone who knew her.

She leaves behind a legacy of love, care, and faith that will be remembered and cherished by her family.

Visitation will take place at the Carlson-Geisendorf Funeral Home on Thursday, October 2 from 4-7 p.m. A Rosary service will be held at Sacred Heart Cathedral at 6 pm on Friday, October 3. A mass of Christian burial will be held on Saturday, October 4 at 10 am at Sacred Heart Cathedral. Catalina will be laid to rest beside her beloved husband at Mount Calvary cemetery.

The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to all who supported and prayed for Catalina in her final days.




Catalina Magallanes, de 94 años, falleció pacíficamente acompañada por familia el 27 de Septiembre de 2025. Nació el 30 de Abril de 1931 en Abrego, Zacatecas. Mexico. Ella vivió una larga vida dedicada a su familia, su fe y su comunidad.

Catalina fue una mujer de gran fe. Su alegría fue cuidar a sus seres queridos. Estuvo casada con Ascensión Rodríguez hasta su fallecimiento el 8 de Febrero de 2002. Juntos formaron una hermosa familia, criando a 13 hijos. Fue precedida en la muerte por sus padres Alvino y Antonia Magallanes, su esposo Ascensión y sus hijos José Manuel y Ramon Rodriguez.

La sobrevivieron 11 hijos: Sara (Santiago) Montoya, Irma (Eliseo) Alvarado de Mexico, Salvador (Socorro) Rodriguez, Maria L Rodriguez, Maria C Rodriguez, Aurelia Rodriguez, Raquel (Raul) Picazo, Celia (Baltazar) Panuco, Betty (Erasmo) Jasso, Miguel (Maria) Rodriguez, Hector (Sara) Rodriguez de Salina Kansas. Tuvo 34 nietos, 48 bisnietos y 3 tataranietos.

Ella fue una ferviente devota de la Virgen del Perpetuo Socorro, rezaba la novena cada mes por más de 52 años. Disfrutaba profundamente de la compañía de sus familiares, valorando cada momento compartido con ellos. En sus pasatiempos le gustaba tejer, cuidar de su jardín y disfrutataba comer helados con sus seres queridos.

En los últimos años de su vida, dedicaba la mayor parte de su tiempo a la oración, no solamente por su familia, sino también por todas las necesidades de la Iglesia y del mundo entero. Su calidez, fortaleza y generosidad tocaron la vida de todos los que la conocieron.

Deja un legado de amor, cuidado y fe que será recordado y apreciado por toda su familia.

El jueves, 2 de Octubre se llavara acabo una visticacion de 4-7 de la tarde en la funeraria Carlson-Geisendorf. El viernes 3 Octubre habra un rosario en la Catedral del Sagrado Corazon a las 6 de la tarde. Se celebrara un misa de entierro Cristiano el 4 de Octubre, a las 10 de la mañana en la Catedral del Sagrado Corazon. Catalina descansará junto a su amado esposo en el cemeterio Mount Calvary.

La familia expresa su más sincero agradecimiento a todos los que apoyaron y oraron por Catalina en sus últimos días.
