Obituary of Catherine Allen
Catherine "Cathy" Allen, 74 years old, passed away peacefully on June 24, 2023, at Wellmore of Lexington, South Carolina. Cathy was born on August 5, 1948 in Jersey City, NJ, the youngest of three children of the late Dr. Silverino V. Demarco and Mrs. Catherine Short Demarco. Cathy graduated from Marymount College of Virginia in 1968. In 1970, she married Kerry J. Smith of Massachusetts. Divorced in 1980, Cathy was remarried to Roy Adair Allen of Virginia, and they remained married until his death.
Cathy was an infectiously energetic and passionate person who knew how to get a laugh. She had a deep, abiding love for the beach, having grown up at the Jersey Shore, and retired to Myrtle Beach.
Cathy is preceded in death by her husband, Roy and brother, Rene.
She is survived by her two children - Mr. Kerry J. Smith Jr. of Oregon and Mrs. Shane Smith Ogburn of South Carolina, and their spouses and children, Mrs. Laurie R. Smith and Miss Ivy R. Smith, Mr. Andy B. Ogburn and Miss Caroline M. Ogburn, as well as 2 step-children - Mrs. Victoria Wishon and Mr. Jesse Allen of Virginia, and her sister, Denise Santora of Florida.
A private Celebration of Life will be held for family and close friends at a later date.
