Catherine "Katy" Bauer

Catherine "Katy" Frances Bauer, age 93, of Pocahontas, passed away peacefully on Sunday, December 14, 2025, in Pocahontas, Iowa.

Catherine Frances Bollard was born on August 9, 1932, in Rockwell City, Iowa. She was the daughter of Richard and Frances (Collins) Bollard. She grew up in Pocahontas and graduated from Sacred Heart High School in 1950. On February 21, 1955, Catherine was united in marriage to Bruce Dale Bauer at Sacred Heart Church in Pocahontas. They were blessed with 5 children. The couple settled on the family farm near Pocahontas where they farmed and raised their family. In 1996, they moved into Pocahontas. Bruce passed away in 2013.

Both Katy and Bruce enjoyed playing cards and camping. She enjoyed bridge club, walking, sewing, jigsaw puzzles, and was an avid reader. She was a lifelong member of the Pocahontas Catholic Church and a member of the Pocahontas American Legion Auxiliary. Above all, her favorite thing was spending time with her devoted family.

Survivors include her 5 children, Diane (Steve) Boka of Muscatine, their son Jeremy, and his children, Lily, Lauren and Briar and daughter-in-law, Wendy (Boka) Gonzalez; Dennis (Sandy) Bauer of Pocahontas, and their two sons, Matthew and Mitchell (BaiZhu) and their baby Jack Dennis; Patricia (Gregg) Gerson of Tucson, AZ; Joseph (Kathy Hiatt) Bauer of Pocahontas, and Douglas (Diane) Bauer of Altoona and their daughters, Taylor (Aaron) Foulk and Danielle (Hunter) Cross; sisters, Nancy Kaiser and Rosemarie "Fuzzy" Mell and sisters-in-law, Jody Bollard, Ellen Bauer, Elaine Bauer and Joy Bauer and many nieces and nephews.

Katy was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Bruce; grandson, Brian Boka, her five brothers, Dick (Lucy), Harry, Tom (Dar), Larry (Betty), Dan (Jane), sister, Carol (Harry) Levene; two brothers-in-law, Royal Kaiser and Bob Mell and sister-in-law, Nancy Bollard.
