Catherine Bimbo Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Nichols Funeral Home - Wilmington on Jan. 4, 2025.
Catherine A. (Venuti) Bimbo, age 97, a long-time resident of Wilmington, passed away peacefully on January 1, 2025, at the Sawtelle Hospice House in Reading.
Kay was born on October 9, 1927, in Chelsea, MA; she was the dear daughter of the late Antonio and Concetta (Guida) Venuti. Kay was raised and educated in Lexington, MA.
Kay married her husband, Sabino Bimbo, and they settled in Wilmington over seventy years ago. Kay and Sabino had many wonderful memories that included both sides of their families; they treated their nieces and nephews as their own. Kay was a talented seamstress, and she enjoyed making doll clothes and dance recital costumes for all her nieces. Kay and Sabino enjoyed taking road trips and Kay later enjoyed traveling to Alaska, Hawaii, and Italy.
Kay worked as an office manager for Ramsey Welding until her 85th birthday when she retired. Kay was very organized and thoroughly enjoyed working with her coworkers and customers.
Kay was very involved in St. Dorothy's Church; she attended Mass regularly and volunteered regularly at church events. Kay belonged to the Ladies Sodality and the choir, where she met many friends and enjoyed their company. She was extremely talented and donated her time and talents to the church, often embroidering vestments and altar cloths. Kay painted a picture of the church and donated it to be displayed by the entrance. She enjoyed organizing the Christmas Bizarre where she sold her crafts and embroidered pieces to fundraise for the church.
Kay was a wonderful aunt; her family was most important to her. She was a great organizer and enjoyed joining the Venuti and the Bimbo families with holiday parties and other special occasions. Kay was the "life of the party", and her family knew that if she was hosting or organizing an event, it was going to be fun! She never missed a family function and attended her niece and nephews sporting and school events regularly.
Kay treasured her relationships with her family and friends and was wonderful at keeping those relationships close. Throughout her life, she created new social circles everywhere she went; Kay was a "social butterfly" and loved finding out new things about those she met. She belonged to the Wilmington Senior Center and travelled several times with the Wilmington Recreation Department. Kay had fun wherever she went and made sure others had fun too.
Kay will be remembered as a fiercely independent lady; she lived on her own and drove herself until she was 95. She had a fun-loving personality and a great sense of humor. She kept herself busy with her family and friends, often visiting new restaurants and attending shows. She will be greatly missed.
Kay was the beloved wife of the late Sabino Bimbo, dear sister of the late Joseph & Jane Venuti, the late Rose Venuti, the late Joanne & Lee Roy Berry, and the late Nicholas Venuti, devoted Aunt of Anthony Venuti, Joseph Venuti, James Venuti, Rebecca Lespasio, Constance Cataldo, Mary Ann Villeneuve, Annette Karl, James Bimbo, Lorraine Gervais, Robin Costa, Cheryl Camacho, and Susan Sartori. Kay is also survived by many great and great-great nieces & nephews and dear friends.
Family and friends will gather for Visitation at the Nichols Funeral Home, 187 Middlesex Ave., (Rte. 62), Wilmington, on Tuesday, January 7th from 9:30-10:30 immediately followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Dorothy's Church, Main St., (Rte. 38), Wilmington at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow in Holy Cross Cemetery, Malden.
Memorial donations in Kay's name may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude’s Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
