LANCASTER, SC - Catherine Ellen Williams Blackmon, passed away on Monday, January 26, 2026, at the age of 92. Born on February 13, 1933, in Lancaster, SC, daughter of the late Toye Williams and the late Theo Phillips Williams, and was the loving wife of Calvin Carson Blackmon. Catherine was of the Christian faith, and she attended Antioch Baptist Church when she was able.
Catherine spent many years as the owner and operator of Blackmon’s Kiddieland in Antioch, nurturing countless children and providing them with a safe and loving environment. Her unwavering devotion to her family was evident in everything she did, and she loved them dearly.
Throughout her life, Catherine found joy and fulfillment in a variety of hobbies and interests. She loved to RV with her husband, exploring the beauty of nature while creating lasting memories together. Catherine was also known for her culinary skills, particularly her "famous" brownies, squash dressing, and homemade biscuits that delighted everyone. Her passion extended beyond the kitchen, as she found peace and joy in gardening, knitting, and crocheting, often surrounded by beautiful flowers.
Catherine is survived by her devoted husband, Calvin; two daughters, Linda Taylor (Dennis) and Patricia Walters; and their loving grandchildren, Carla Knight (Mike) and Jillian Walters (Aaron); she is also lovingly remembered by her great-grandchildren, Skylar Knight (Stella), Madison Knight, Arianna, and Colton; and her great-great-grandchild, Emmie Louise. Catherine's bond with her caregivers, Shannon Davis, Patricia Deese, and Kevin Ferris, was also one of deep appreciation and mutual respect.
She has reunited with those who have passed before her, including her parents, Toye and Theo Williams; her two sons, Karl Blackmon and Mark Blackmon; a daughter, Deanna Blackmon; and her beloved Aunt Deannie Phillips, who raised her when her mother passed away at a young age.
A visitation will be held in her honor on Sunday, February 8, 2026, from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM, followed by a Celebration of Life at Antioch Baptist Church, 1734 Antioch Church Road, Lancaster, SC, from 3:00 PM to 4:00 PM. A burial service will follow, at Antioch Baptist Church Cemetery.
