Catherine "Cathy" Buresh, age 83, passed away peacefully on January 1st 2025. Catherine was born and raised in the Roxbury and Dorchester areas of Boston and graduated from Jeremiah E. Burke High School in1959. She was predeceased by her husband, James Buresh who provided a second chance at love later in life, as well as by her 3 siblings, Denise Trudell, Joseph Sullivan & Mary Rhilinger. Catherine moved to Marshfield in the mid 1960's to raise her young family. She then earned her associates degree while raising four daughters. Catherine spent the majority of her career in real estate and related fields.
Catherine's largest and most precious role in life would be as the beloved Mother to her four daughters and Grammy to her 7 grandchildren. Catherine will be so deeply missed by her loving daughters Deborah Schopperle, Susan Smith, Karen DeCoste and her husband Richard, Linda Drew and her husband Frank, of Marshfield, her grandchildren, Emma, Sarah, Reed, William, Jacob, John and Nolan as well as nieces, nephews and cousins.
Catherine had a deep love for reading and music. She had a passion for plants with an incredible talent for gardening; a true green thumb. She loved family gatherings, with good food, fun and games. Those close to Cathy knew she possessed a wicked sense of humor; sharp witted and astute, the hallmark of a person who successfully navigated many of life's challenges. Humor could be her armor and like most things she wore it well. In the best way, she was a force to be reckoned with. Those in her inner circle knew the depth of her character as a kind, generous loving person. Catherine will be remembered for her unbeatable blend of salty and sweet, her incredible sense of humor and an infectious laugh.
A wake will be held on Monday, January 6, 2025 from 4:00 to 6:30 p.m. and will conclude with a Funeral Service at 6:30 p.m. at the MacDonald Funeral Home, 1755 Ocean Street in Marshfield. Burial will be private.
