Catherine Conway, 71, of Scranton, died Sunday at home. Born in Scranton, she was a daughter of the late Francis Patrick and Mary Montalbano Conway.

A member of Immaculate Conception Church, she attended grade school at Nativity of Our Lord School in South Scranton, and was a graduate of Scranton Central High School. Cathy received a bachelor's degree from Mansfield University, an M.S. in reading from the University of Scranton and a M.S. in library science from Ithaca College. She was a teacher for the Scranton School District for many years, most notably an art teacher at John Marshall School in West Scranton.

Cathy loved her family, and was especially fond of her niece and nephew. She also loved her three cats, Sheba, Blue and Samson. She was a beloved aunt, sister and friend who will be deeply missed.

Surviving are her siblings, Mary Conway, Sandy Heacock and husband, Kipp; Peter Conway and wife, Andrea; and Eileen Fricker and husband, Don; a nephew, David Heacock and wife Virginia; nieces, Jamie and husband, Geoff White, and Emily; as well as grandnieces and grandnephews.

In accordance with Cathy's wishes, she has been cremated. A memorial service will be held in the spring, at a date to be announced.
