Catherine Ann Crate, affectionately known as "Cathie" or "MawMaw", age 74, passed away peacefully on January 30, 2025 at her home in Deer Park, TX, surrounded by the love of her family.
Born on May 9, 1950 in Houston, TX, to Junior and Dorothy Ramsey, Cathie lived a life marked by faith, family and love. She was a devoted wife to Stephen J. Crate for nearly 51 years. Cathie, alongside her husband, navigated life's challenges with resilience and poise, especially during her 3-month battle with Multiple Myeloma and her 12-year battle with two autoimmune illnesses: Neuromyelitis optica and Sjogren's syndrome. Her grace and vibrant spirit touched the lives of so many, particularly through her relationship with Deer Park First Baptist Church. Cathie graduated from North Shore High School in 1968 and proudly performed on their Scarlets Drill Team. She would love to sing, dance and light up the world with laughter! Her love for Jesus Christ and life's testimony of joy, wisdom, sass and a whole lot of class is imprinted on our hearts forever!
Cathie is preceded in death by her parents, Junior and Dorothy Ramsey, her brother, John Ramsey and cherished pup, Sophie.
Cathie is survived by her husband, Stephen Crate and three daughters, Michelle Crate, Crystal delaCruz and Marnie Lowery. Her legacy continues through her grandchildren: Cameron, Colby, Christian, Derrick and Connor. Cathie was also a proud great-grandmother to Kyla, Hadlee, Carter and Grayson. She is also survived by her beloved nieces and countless friends.
A Celebration of Life service, to honor Cathie's life, will be held at 4:00 PM on Saturday, February 8th, at Deer Park First Baptist Church, 438 E. 8th Street. Visitation will take place prior from 2:00 PM until the service hour. A private interment of her cremains will eventually be laid to rest at Houston National Cemetery in Houston, TX.
The Crate family extends their sincerest appreciation to all the caregivers who offered outstanding love and support each day during her challenging journey home to be with Jesus.
The Family request if you like, you may send a donation to Deer Park First Baptist Church in lieu of flowers.
