OGDENSBURG - A Mass of Christian Burial for Catherine "Kay" M. (Boothe) Touron Denny, age 101, of
Ogdensburg, NY, will be celebrated on Friday, October 31, 2025, at 1 p.m. at Notre Dame Church with Rev. Joseph Morgan officiating. Burial will follow in Notre Dame Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 30, 2025, from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. at Frary Funeral Home, Ogdensburg. Mrs. Denny passed away on Tuesday, October 28, 2025, at St. Joseph's Home, surrounded by her loving family.
Arrangements are under the direction of Frary Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Ogdensburg.
Catherine is survived by her sons Frank (Janice) Touron of Tyner, NC; David (Sharon) Touron of Maryville, TN; Gary (Dianne) Touron of
Ogdensburg, NY; and Gordon (Colleen) Touron of Decaturville, TN; her daughter Martha (Michael) O'Marah of Prescott Valley, AZ; and her stepchildren Greg (Tina) Denny of
Ogdensburg, NY; Pat Denny; and Debbie (Peter) Thrall of Syracuse, NY.
She is also survived by many beloved grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren, as well as several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Catherine was predeceased by her sisters Elsie Devine, Hazel Monaco, Mary Kessler, and Marion Morelli, grandson Charles Touron and by her stepchildren Sidney Denny and Clifford Denny
Born on August 21, 1924, in
Ogdensburg, NY, Catherine was the daughter of the late Fred and Alice (Malley) Boothe. She graduated from Ogdensburg Free Academy in 1942. She married Francis L. Touron Sr. on August 28, 1944, at Notre Dame Church; he predeceased her on July 12, 1976. She later married Howard W. Denny on July 21, 1982, also at Notre Dame Church in Ogdensburg. He predeceased her on December 1, 1996.
Catherine was employed by ALCOA during World War II and later worked at A&P Grocery Store, Shade Roller, and Diamond National. She went on to have a 25-year career as a Therapy Aide at the St. Lawrence Psychiatric Center in Ogdensburg, retiring after many years of dedicated service.
A devoted member of Notre Dame Church, Kay served in many ministries, including the Notre Dame Altar Society, Eucharistic Ministry, and as a Lay Associate of the Grey Nuns of the Sacred Heart. She was also a Lay Minister for the Diocese of Ogdensburg, helped prepare the altar at both St. Joseph's and Notre Dame, and was honored as Notre Dame's Woman of the Year in 1987.
In 2013, Catherine received the Pro Ecclesia et Pontifice Cross and citation from Pope Francis- It is the highest medal that can be awarded to the laity by a pope. She was also recognized as the Ogdensburg Woman's Club Volunteer of the Year in 1999.
Catherine enjoyed knitting, gardening, baking, and volunteering at Notre Dame and St. Joseph's Nursing Home. Above all, she cherished time spent with her children and grandchildren, creating countless treasured family memories.
