Purdys, NY - Catherine M. Doxsey, 73, a Hyde Park resident, died Sunday, August 24, 2008 at the Waterview Hills Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center, Purdy�s. Mrs. Doxsey was a rural letter carrier in Arlington and Poughkeepsie for 25 years, retiring in 1990. She also worked for Hudson Valley Home Healthcare for 10 years. She enjoyed watching her grandchildren, taking long trips, and watching the Food Network Channel. Born in Beacon on January 21, 1935, she was the daughter of the late Francis and Marie Fleming Moran. On October 18, 1954 in St Joachim's Roman Catholic Church in Beacon, she married Howard J. Doxsey Sr. He predeceased her on June 19, 2006. Survivors include her five children, Cathy Bullwinkle and husband, Robert of Utica, Debbie Doxsey of Fayetteville, NY, Howie Doxsey Jr. and wife, Eileen, of Pleasant Valley, Richie Doxsey and wife, Chrissy, of Poughkeepsie, and Donna Doxsey McGrew and husband, Dave, of Milford, Conn., nine grandchildren, Chris, Michael, Kristin, Heather, Kayla, Steven, Shaun, Brian, and Jillian; a great grandson, Austin; a great granddaughter, Ryley Marie; a brother, Francis 'Sonny' Moran and wife, Dolores, of Coldspring; four sisters, Loretta 'Snooks' Travis and husband, Pierre, of Coldspring, Shirley Trimble and husband, Kenneth, Barbara 'Bobbie' Chain and husband, Victor, of Wappingers Falls, and Linda Russell and husband, Tommy, of Beacon; several nieces and nephews; and a dear friend, Rose. In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by two sisters, Delores 'Skip' Doxsey and Patricia Rigetti; a brother, Harold 'Butch' Niver; and her step-father, Harold Niver Sr. Calling hours will be from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm, Wednesday, August 27, 2008 at Sweet's Funeral Home, Inc., Rte. 9, Hyde Park. A funeral service will take place at 8 pm during the calling hours. Fr. Stephen Bosomafi will be officiating. In accordance with her wishes cremation will take place at the convenience of the family.
