Phillip Randy Meade, 68, of Medora, Indiana, passed away on September 9, 2025. He was born on March 4, 1957, in Harlan, Kentucky, one of twenty children, to the late Oliver and Rena Meade. Phillip later moved to Indiana, where he spent most of his life. He worked as a truck driver and was known for his sharp wit, his resourcefulness, and his ability to see value in the most unlikely places.
Phillip was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He is survived by his wife, Jerry K. Meade, and by his children: Joshua Meade (wife Hiroko), Patricia Meade, Randall Meade, Zachary Meade (wife Paige), Jessica Youngren (husband Allen), Monica Childers (husband Brad), and Brandon Reynolds.
He was preceded in death by his son, Phillip Meade. He is also survived by his siblings: Talmadge “Jack” Meade, Robert “Bill” Meade, Rondall Meade (wife Sharon), Peggy Player (husband Trellis), Louis Ison, Cassie Gibson, Nell Fields, and Judy Sumpter (husband Don). Phillip is remembered with love by his many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Phillip lived life on his own terms—boldly, humorously, and always with a knack for finding treasure where others saw only junk. He will be remembered for his toughness, his humor, and the lasting mark he left on those who knew him.
