Catherine R. Farneth, passed away peacefully at Kensington Care Center on December 1, 2023, at the age of 96, born November 17, 1927. She was predeceased by her husband, Harold E. Farneth.
She is remembered by her children, Rebecca (Jon) Vidak, and Patrick (Patricia) Farneth, three grandchildren, Amanda Blaess, Bailey Farneth, and Ian Farneth, and three great-grandchildren Keller, Tripp, and Gio.
Catherine started her adult life working as a telephone switchboard operator in New Kensington, Pa. They were married in 1945 after her husband returned from the war in Europe. The couple resided in Oakmont, Pa. and began their family of four. In 1960 they moved to Penn Hills, Pa. In 1970 the family moved to Penfield, NY. where Harold furthered his career in community college administration. In 2013 they moved again to PA, where her husband passed away. She finally resided in Hiram, Ohio remaining close to her daughter Rebecca and Jon Vidak.
Catherine’s sense of humor will always be remembered by those who knew her. Balanced with Harold's solid guidance, her children grew up in a family of love and caring. They provided Rebecca and Patrick with wonderful educations and a comfortable home. Catherine was a homemaker, but also worked as a florist in PA. and in Rochester, NY., and was on the staff of Eastman Dental Clinic and later for a private dental practice. She enjoyed volunteering for Welcome Wagon and a local hospital. She also loved her flower beds, vegetable gardens, and teaching her family the value of planting for future needs. She was raised on a farm, and while she chose a life away from the farm, her family benefited from her country upbringing. She will be missed by all.
Interment will be private.
