Catherine M. Handy

Catherine Mary (Tash) Handy died at the age of 90 in her Shelburne, VT home where she lived for sixty years. She was born in Burlington, VT in 1935. In 1958, Catherine married the love of her life, Paul Handy. Together they formed Handy Family Enterprises, which operated several businesses in the South Burlington area. Catherine was a devout Catholic and a member of Christ the King Church. She represents the last of a great generation (many having immigrated from Lebanon) that established many businesses in Vermont that are still thriving today.
Catherine and Paul had seven children; with four under the age of six, they then welcomed triplets. She and her husband were grandparents to sixteen grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Catherine was the heart and soul of her family. She was a fan of casinos, dancing, game shows, spending time at her Pompano, FL home, and was an animal lover.
She is survived by her children, Sam and Pam Handy, Donna and Aldo Borja, Paul and Kathy Handy, Paula and Jon McMullen, Peter and Karen Handy, and son-in-law Larry Michael; grandchildren, Paul Michael and Veronica Sosa-Gonzalez, Christopher Michael and Katie Hurley, Ryan and Hana Michael, Danielle Michael, Sam and Cassie Handy, Jaclyn and Robert Burwell, Jonathan Handy, Hannah Provost, John Paul Feldman, Brittney Borja, Natasha Borja, Paul Handy III, Christina Handy, Erica McMullen, Whitney McMullen, Peter Handy, Jr., and Michelle and Eric Wiedekes; and great-grandchildren, Rowan, Remy, Bert, Lola, and Maeve.
She was pre-deceased by her husband, Paul and daughters, Mary Rose Handy and Ann Marie Michael.
The family thanks Home Instead for the wonderful care. We especially thank the efforts of Catherine who developed a special bond with our mom.
