Catherine E. Kelly

 

Catherine E. Kelly, loving wife, mother, grandmother, and friend passed away on May 26th, 2023 in Westland, Michigan at the age of 71. Catherine was born in Hamtramck, Michigan on November 1st, 1951 to Frederick and Lottie Hiles.

Growing up in Michigan, Catherine had a great sense of humor that endeared her to everyone she met. Shortly after Graduating High School she met the love of her life, James Kelly.

On April 28th, 1972, Catherine and James married. Their love story spanned over five decades and was an inspiration to all who knew them. Together they had two children: Heather (Justo) Hernandez and Matthew (Tabitha) Kelly. Catherine loved being a mother and dedicated herself to raising her children with unwavering love and support.

One of the greatest joys of Catherine's life was her grandchildren. She loved nothing more than reading books with them or watching the birds flutter around outside. Her six grandchildren: Mia Endo, Maxfield Endo, Oliver Endo, Brynn Endo, Alexis Kelly, and Emily Kelly will miss their beloved grandma dearly.

Catherine loved to crochet in her free time and was passionate about creating beautiful things with her hands. Her friends and family were always delighted to receive one of her creations as a gift. She also loved spending time reading books that transported her to other worlds.

Catherine is survived by her loving husband James Kelly; daughter Heather Hernandez; son Matthew Kelly; six grandchildren Mia Endo, Maxfield Endo, Oliver Endo, Brynn Endo, Alexis Kelly, and Emily Kelly; brother Frederick Hiles; as well as many other family members and close friends.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Frederick and Lottie Hiles, and sister Anne Hiles.

Catherine's infectious spirit and kind soul will be missed beyond measure by all who had the pleasure of knowing her. May she rest in peace knowing that she was, and always will be, deeply loved by all who knew her.

Friends may visit the Schrader-Howell Funeral Home, 280 South Main Street, Plymouth, Michigan on Friday, June 2, from 3p to 7p. 

A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, June 3, at St. Mary, Cause of Our Joy, 8200 North Wayne Road, Westland, Michigan, at 11a.  Visitation at the church will be from 10:30a to 11a.
