Catherine Maude (Mattison) Liles
Was born August 27, 1924 in Westfield, PA the daughter of the late Lyman and Rose (Gardner) Mattison. She went to be with her Lord and family on Wednesday, October 29, 2025 peacefully at Bethany Manor in Horseheads, NY. She was preceded in death by her 6 brothers, 5 sisters, son-in-law Pete Minor and daughter Rosemary Walker. Survivors left to cherish her memory are her sons, Christopher Liles of Long Island, NY, and Wayne (Danielle) Tice of Gillett, PA; daughters, Linda (John) Eastwood of Elmira, NY, Jean Holton of Catlin, NY, and Susan Minor of FL; sister, Lois "Sue" Bates of Elmira, NY; best friend Linda Johnson also of Elmira; along with several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Catherine was active at the South Creek Volunteer Fire Department and was also their Bingo "Mama." She enjoyed playing any card games especially Euker. She also enjoyed her independence with her Moped that she often rode. Catherine was an avid camper and could be found on the St. Lawrence Seaway and the Pine Creek campsites with family and friends. Prior to the fire that unfortunately closed the Antler Inn in Pennsylvania, she loved dinning at that rustic restaurant. Above all else, she loved her children and spending time with them whenever she could. Family and friends are invited to visit Walter J. Kent Funeral Home, 858 Lake St. at Washington Ave., Elmira on Saturday, November 8, 2025 from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm. Her memorial service will follow at 12 pm. Grandson John L. Eastwood will officiate. Interment will follow in the Fitzsimmons Cemetery Southport, NY. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be directed to the South Creek Volunteer Fire Department, 6428 Roaring Run Road Gillett, PA 16925. Catherine's family would like to thank Bethany Manor for the outstanding love and care given to Mrs. Liles while she was in their care.
